Con questa discussione vorrei raggruppare gli utenti che hanno riscontrato il famigerato errore (noto anche come "TDR issue") con schede video ATI o NVIDIA tassativamente mobile. Chiedo a tutti voi di rispondere al sondaggio e di postare le caratteristiche del notebook (scheda video, versione driver, CPU, eventuale overclock applicato) che presenta l'errore. Rispondete solo al sondaggio se l'errore non vi si è mai presentato.

La speranza è cercare di capire la frequenza con cui si presenta l'errore e possibilmente come aiuto per chi è in procinto di acquistare un nuovo notebook affinché effettui la scelta migliore.

Il problema è molto serio, sopratutto per per gli utenti NVIDIA: personalmente io non riesco ad aggiornare i driver da ben 2 anni (ho una scheda video mobile obsoleta, ok, ma ho comunque pagato per averla...) e devo rinunciare all'accelerazione GPU dei browser come Chrome e (in futuro) Opera, l'accelerazione di Photoshop CS5.5, Battlefield 3, la programmazione in CUDA, l'encoding video... insomma non poca roba

Come si presenta
L'errore si presenta con un messaggio a forma di nuvoletta con il messaggio riportato di seguito. Nei casi meno gravi le frequenze restano bloccate sul profilo "low 3D" fino al prossimo riavvio. Nei casi più gravi si verifica una BSOD con conseguente riavvio. Potete controllare (su 7/Vista) se si è verificato aprendo il visualizzatore eventi dal menù start. A sinistra cliccate su "Sistema" mentre a destra cliccate su "Filtro registro corrente" e impostato solo su "Avviso". Nella lista degli avvisi il problema ha come origine "Display".

Il driver video nvlddmkm ha smesso di rispondere ed è stato correttamente ripristinato.

What is TDR? Windows Vista has a new feature called Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR). TDR attempts to detect problematic situations and recover to a functional desktop dynamically. In prior operating systems these situations would have resulted in a system freeze and forced customers to reboot their PC. Therefore, when you see the TDR error message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered", you know that the display driver is being reset without requiring a reboot.

Why does it happen? TDRs can occur for a variety of reasons, many of which are unrelated to the graphics card or graphics driver. Since Vista launched, NVIDIA has been working hard to address TDRs issues that are specific to the graphics driver. Last year, we set up the NVIDIA Vista Quality Assurance Site to record and address user issues: http://www.nvidia.com/object/driverq...assurance.html. Since that time, we have resolved a majority of the issues specific to the graphics driver and have also worked directly with Microsoft to release five Vista hotfixes, all of which are now part of Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). If customers are still experiencing issues, we recommend that they continue to file issues at the quality assurance site. We also recommend that customers look carefully into the wide range of other causes of TDR issues such as overclocked components, incorrect component compatibility and settings (especially memory configuration and timings), defective parts (memory modules, motherboards, etc.), insufficient system cooling, and insufficient system power. Throughout the forums, there are numerous reports of hardware solutions to TDRs.

ho un Precisione M6500 con Quadro fx2800m e mi è successo con tutte e tre le via che mi hanno sostituito!

Notebook toshiba a300d-14r, scheda video HD3650, cpu Turion64 x2 ultra zm-80, driver 8.634.1...mai avuto problemi.
