Problema video con ubuntu e il muletto mini-itx

[Perseverance]

La funzione del mio muletto è quella di stare sempre acceso e collegato ad internet. Lo controllo tramite nxmachine (freeNx). Da bios ho impostato che se và via la corrente, appena torna si riesuma dall'ultimo stato: perciò se era acceso prima che saltasse la corrente, si riaccende (Power On after Powerfail=Last State). Fin qui tutto ok.

Ierisera ho riscontrato un enorme problema che impedisce l'avvio di linuxmint 8 (ubuntu 9.10 x32 based) (ma penso di qualunque altra distro?) e perciò in caso di fault non posso riavviarlo da remoto xkè si pianta.

Se avvio il muletto senza mouse e senza tastiera tutto fila liscio, il problema è quando stacco il cavo del monitor. Se avvio il muletto senza collegare il cavo del monitor; al momento che deve caricare il desktop (penso il serverX?) mi esce una finestra che mi avvisa che si è verificato un errore e la grafica gira in modalità provvisoria.

come posso fare per risolvere il problema?

se hai gnome prova a rimuovere e reinstallare tutto il pacchetto ubuntu-desktop. se è un muletto e la sua funzione è quella di scaricare...ti consiglio vivamente di togliere ogni interfaccia grafica e controllare il tuo sistema da pagine web (webmin)

Mi sembra una cosa abbastanza drastica. Presumo che ci sia qualche impostazione da modificare nella configurazione xorg, non essendo esperto non saprei dove mettere le mani.

è una cosa molto piu facile e pratica di quello che pensi! poi ci sono interfacce web per qualsiasi esigenza: amministrazione emule torrent ecc...(il computer è controllabile anche all'esterno!) per quanto riguarda xorg intanto posto il suo log (si trova in /var/log/Xorg.0.log) dadosi che ci sei prova ad reinstallare anche xorg!

Ho rifatto tutto come mi hai detto, ma il problema persiste. Il muletto si pianta all'avvio con quell'errore se non è collegato nessun monitor!

Xò poi ho provato a rinominare il backup come xorg.conf e al riavvio lo schermo era 800x600 xò non dava nessun errore benchè lo schermo l'avevo lasciato staccato. Dopo ho provato a rimettere il suffisso backup ma non è tornato niente apposto e ho dovuto re-reinstallare tutto daccapo.

Tu hai una distribuzione linux? Puoi provare ad avviare il computer staccando il monitor? Ti funziona? Allora dimmi che distro hai che la metto anche io!

Mi sono rotto i c****i. Ho formattato tutto ed ho installato la classica UBUNTU 9.10 x64 e ho risolto il problema.

il mio muletto non fa uso ne di monitor tastiere e mouse! se ti può essere di conforto l'ultima volta che sul mio muletto provai ad installare un desktop grafico ebbi molti problemi! non c'è nessuna controindicazione se io volessi collegare un monitor dopo aver acceso un computer! hai un problema di driver!

Il problema potrebbe proprio essere nella funzione Xorg -configure. Dopo un bel po' di ore passate a cercare come riconfigurare lo Xorg su ubuntu 9.10 ho capito come si fà.

Il vecchio comando dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg non funziona più, e allo stesso modo non esiste più il file xorg.conf dalla versione 9.04 in sù l'hanno tolto (sulla 9.04 c'era xò ancora qualche riga utile).

La scaletta dei comandi da impartire sono:

CRTL+ALT+F1
sudo service gdm stop
sudo Xorg -configure
sudo mv ~/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
sudo service gdm start

Al posto del tilde ~ ci và il percorso corretto del file *.new che crea il comando configure. Cmq alla fine vi scrive dove si trova il file (/home/%username%/...../xorg.conf.new).

Il fatto è che lui lo ricrea ammodo, ma il problema stà appunto nello XORG.CONF! Quando è staccato il monitor, misteriosamente scompare una sezione dello xorg, e non si sà il xkè succede!

Sicuramente è un bug che spero risolvano con la 10.04.

Comunque io parlo per me e per quelli che come me hanno la BOXD510MO. Se volete usarla come muletto senza monitor dovete fare quello che ho detto. Dopo aver impartito le righe di comando pecedenti bisogna editare ulteriormente lo xorg.conf:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

La voce driver "intel" và sostituita con driver "vesa". Ovviamente scompariranno gli effetti compiz al riavvio. Quindi a questo punto il muletto si avvierà senza problemi e senza monitor a risoluzione 800x600. Se invece ci attaccate il monitor prima che parta si avvierà alla risoluzione nativa del monitor (anche qui non mi chiedete come faccia xkè non lo sò).

Quando volete utilizzare il compiz basta rieditare lo xorg.conf e ricambiare vesa con intel. Per ora questa è una soluzione funzionante, di certo non bella, ma funziona.

Utile è il fatto che se mi connetto in remoto con NXMachine posso scegliere la risoluzione che mi pare, e funziona!

Perciò per ora mi va bene così, in attesa che qualcuno risolva stì problemi.
