Switch Gigabit cosa comprare?

Buongiorno a tutti,
nella mia lan trasferisco ogni notte su un NAS (Buffalo) la bellezza di circa 300 Giga e ci mette veramente un macello di tempo (parliamo di anche 12-18 ore). Faccio questa scelta per avere un backup esterno sicuro di tutte le mie macchine (faccio le immagini delle macchine stesse per questo pesano così tanto).
Poiché ho uno switch tricom che va ancora a 100 megabit (si lo so sono un pazzo) pensavo di velocizzare il tutto mettendo un bel switch a 1 gigabit in modo che in circa 2 ore e mezza (35 mega al secondo) dovrei trasferire tali dati. Ora, ho cercato info in giro anche sul forum in merito a switch da 1 gigabit ma ho veramente una grossa confusione in testa. Avete qualche consiglio da darmi? Che marca è più affidabile in termine di prestazioni/sicurezza? Quale modello?

avevo visto il tuo topic anche prima di postare la mia domanda...ho aperto un' altro topic perché tu ti "soffermi" solamente sui netgear e, sinceramente, con quella marca (per altre cose) mi sono sempre trovato moooolto male.
Pensavo più ad un dlink o a un tricom o ad un linksys ma non ho capito quali siano le cose "reali" da guardare per capire quale di questi sia meglio e/o quale modello sia più affidabile.
Tu sei riuscito ad uscirne e avere le idee un pò più chiare in testa?

Per switch unmanaged layer 2 i netgear della serie prosafe sono apparati di buona qualità imho. Controlla da entrambi i lati il supporto per i jumbo frame.
Inoltre cercando un pò nel forum dovreste trovare parecchi thread sui trasferimenti in GbE

Uno switch unmanaged è uno switch che non richiede e permette la gestione remota, ma è già pronto all' utilizzo. Tutti gli switch, poi, sono di layer 2 ma si utilizza tale definizione per distinguerli da apparsti piu complessi (gli switch layer 3) che implementano anche algoritmi di routing.
Infine un Jumbo-frame è un frame che aumenta l' mtu disponibile da 1500 a 9000 byte, ma non è standardizzato quindi non tutti gli apparati ne danno supporto.

Guarda ho una certa diffidenza istintiva da questa linea green. Non avendola mai provata ho il timore che questa gestione energetica possa creare problemi senza portare a chissà quale risparmio economico. Quindi mi astengo dal giudizio

io l'ho visto, se per te l'ingombro non è un problema, prendilo ma se vuoi uno switch da scrivania prendi il netgear

io ho preso sia il dgs-1005d, sia il dgs-1008d
funzionano benissimo, costano poco ed esteticamente sono perfetti

per il discordo risparmio energetico non ho idea se funzioni veramente oppure se sia solo una trovata pubblicitaria

le prestazioni sono ottime
