assegnazione errata unità

sto diventando matto....
ma perchè ubuntu mi risulta come hd0,5 quando invece è nella 2a partizione?
dovrebbe essere hd0,2....perchè 5?!!?

la 2a partizione del primo disco dovrebbe essere hd(0,1) visto che grub comincia a contare da zero. e (0,5) potrebbe essere giusto se quella partizione fosse una logica dentro un'estesa invece di una primaria. da me per esempio la root di linux è sulla 2a partizione che però è una logica, per grub è hd(0,4) e per linux /dev/sda5
però non ho capito una cosa: ma il sistema parte? immagino di no, ma qual è il messaggio di errore? e windows dal secondo hd si avvia?

allora ho reinstallato tutto.
ora vede nell 0,5 linux ubuntu..hai visto bene è una logica e in hd0,0 windows.
solo che scegliendo windows da grub windows non parte!! NTLDR mancante.

In pratica faccio così. Quando voglio utilizzare windows accendo il pc e windows viene caricato da solo.
Quando voglio utilizzare linux tramite l'utilità del bios faccio partire il secondo disco e appare...GRUB.
da li poi ubuntu parte regolarmente.

Io vorrei proprio capire perchè è cos' complicato far convivere i sistemi e far partire grub all'accensione del pc.
Infatti se metto grub sul mbr dell'altro disco (che sarebbe il primo) NON PARTE PIU NULLA!!!

Comuque sia....così in modo anomalo ma và.
