Si parte con la possibilita' di accedere alle partizioni XFS del disco e di abilitare l'accesso in Telnet. (non verificate dal sottoscritto al momento...)

This family of NAS, will create three partitions:

/dev/sda1 are swap
/dev/sda2 mount at /conf and are some conf files
/dev/sda3 mount at /mnt/data are data.
To have root execution we will:

1.- Put Hard disk and format (from web interface) as XFS (fat not tested, will work also)

2.- Create a user (and share) from web interface

3.- Turn-off NAS, and connect to PC with a USB cable. You may use
Linux to have acces at conf partition.

4.- Copy netcat for arm, to this partition. You can get it at my web:
http://www.uv.es/cuan/arxius/FT3563-BT/
and mark it as executable (chmod +x netcat)

5.- Edit smb.conf, and add this line to share what you created:

root preexec = /conf/netcat -e /bin/ash -l -p 10001 2>> /mnt/data/public/err.log

6.- Connect to this share, ie (my share are sh_toni, and my user are toni):

smbclient //NAS_IP/sh_toni -U toni

When you connect, netcat at NAS wil lbe executed

7.- Connect to NAS using netcat (we use 1001 port):

nc IP_NAS 10001

Now, we are capable to execute programs, like ls, dmesg, ….
If we want access using telnet, we will add “pts/0″ to
/etc/securetty, ie, form netcat:

echo “pts/0″ >> /etc/securetty
/usr/sbin/telnetd

Now, we can login to nas using telnet, user root without password.

NOTE: As you can see if execute mount, root filesystem are in
/dev/ram0 , and any modification (execept modifications to /conf) will
be lost."

Dal log dell'avvio del sistema, se c'e' una seriale collegata ai Pads dovrebbe comunicare a 38400 8N1
Domani provero con un oscilloscopio a vedere se al Boot c'e' attivita' su JP2 e J2.

P.S. La scheda LVTTL-RS232 e' gia' pronta, spero solo che siano segnali a 3,3V (supportati dal Max2323) e non a 1,8V...

Con un normale convertitore LVTTL-RS232 (da seriale a 3,3V a seriale standard...) sono riuscito a connettermi al NAS (per il momento in ricezione...)

Su J2 i collegamenti sono i seguenti:

Lo schema e' quello per MAX232, ma si deve utilizzare un MAX3232 dato che i segnali del NAS non sono a 5V ma a 3,3V...

Congratulazioni anzitutto per il lavoro che stai facendo!
Come ti dicevo dovrei ripristinare il firmware originale dato che l'upgrade me lo ha sputtanato, dovrei solo capire da ce parte incominciare.
Mi sai consigliare, magari su ebay, che cavo utilizzare per il collegamento alla seriale? e soprattutto dove attaccarlo

No, non l'ho acquistato su Ebay.
Il venditore e' stato molto gentile e non ho avuto problemi con la sostituzione (in realta' il prodotto era "Fallato" dato che l'aggiornamento in fin dei conti e' un suo "Uso" normale).
Non e' stata mia imperizia aggiornarlo (e ci mancherebbe...)

Per quanto riguarda il saldatore, non e' nulla di difficile (naturlamente decadrebbe la garanzia...). Solo un po' d'attenzione nel saldare le piazzole (io uso saldatori termoregolati di "Marca" con le punte giuste e ci vuole molto impegno per danneggiare un circuito, ma con saldatori economici anch'io farei dei danni.)
Se conosci qualcuno che "Ci sa fare" col saldatore, potresti chiedergli la cortesia...

Smontando il disco, si accede a un pulsante di reset sul PCB (S2).
Tenendolo premuto allaccensione, si ottiene questo sulla console:

Mi complimento con te per quel che stai scoprendo e condividendo con tutti noi.
La scheda del mio nas per ora è dal venditore ebay. Ha smesso di funzionare all'improvviso (prima funzionava solo in usb poi nemmeno quello!)

So che è un post inutile ma volevo davvero complimentrmi!

Per ora sono passato ad un synology molto più costoso ma anche più gestibile (lavori direttamente da telnet).

Vedremo gli sviluppi!

Sul sito del produttore, quello dove e' possibile scaricare gli aggiornamenti del FirmWare, ci sono due versioni distinte.
Una e' per STR9104 (quello che ho io...) e un'altra per STR8136.

Vorrei capire se, chi ha avuto, come me, problemi di aggiornamento come me, era in possesso della prima versione o della seconda...

P.S. Togliendo il coperchio lato ventola, vi e' in bella vista il chip in oggetto...

Attendo con ansia un PM con il link al forum degli smanettoni NAS!
Vorrei cominciare a smanettare anch'io sul FW per cercare di inserirci amule e migliorare il client BitTorrent...

Il mio punto d'arrivo sarebbe avere un dispositivo su cui "Girino" diversi client P2P e magari anche dell'altro (server di posta ecc...) cosi' da poter finalmente spegnere il PC ora dedicato a questo...

Ciao,
sicuramente qualcosa si potrà fare ma tieni presente che il processore non dovrebbe essere molto potente rischieresti ri rallentare tutto.
Per quel che mi riguarda ora sul synology ho installato amule (ed è fantastico!) tra poco ci metterò anche rtorrent. Credo che tutto questa sia installabile anche sul tuo nas però, come detto prima attenzione al processore... il mio synology monta un 300MHz con 128mega di ram.

Se ti servono info posso girarti il link synology dove troverai sicuramente spunti per il tuo modding.

In realta' sono ottimista, in fondo la cpu e' una 200MHz...
L'ottimizzazione spinta delle versioni embedded di linux dovrebbe sopperire alla carenza di potenza della CPU...
