problema shockwave player

Non so perchè ma di punto in bianco shockwave ha smesso di funzionare.
Quando ha finito di caricare il filmato o gioco mi da in ordine i seguenti errori:

e al posto dell'applicazione compare una bella X rossa su campo nero.
ho provato a disinstallare flash e shockwave, a reinstallarli, a reinstallare versioni precedenti... sempre la stessa storia!
Uso winxp con tutti gli aggiornamenti fatti, l'antivirus non dà noia, nè il teatimer, nè altro
