La CPU NTVDM ha incontrato un'istruzione non valida

Saluto tutti quanti i membri del forum e chiedo aiuto per un problema che sembra non avere soluzione apparente se non quella della formattazione (la odio...).

Ringrazio da subito chi rispondera', chi si interessera' o semplicemente chi ci butta giu' un occhio.

Descrizione del problema:
allora, il problema è quello da titolo. Appare quando voglio runnare un qualsiasi setup da file di 16 bit. (per vedere meglio, in allegato c'e' uno screenshot di cio' che accade quando tento di installare il mitico filezilla, ma ovviamente cio' accade anche con tutte le altre applicazioni a 16bit: cominciando da wxPython). Ho windows xp sp2. antivirus AVG. ho anche dato una spolveratina con un registry cleaner. Credo che a scatenare questo macello sia stato Avast (il predecessore di AVG sul mio computer).

Cosa ho gia' fatto:

ho seguito alla lettera quasi tutte le istruzioni nei vari forum (fino all'installazione di una fix che segue alla lettera i suggerimenti che mamma microsoft fornisce agli utenti afflitti da questa bestia): A ME NON FUNZIONA NESSUNA DI QUESTE!
Ho passato tutto in rassegna con un Antivirus (AVG), con Spybot e con un Registry Cleaner. Ho copiato da altri computer i suddetti file. Li ho scaricati anche da un altro forum. Qui di seguito vi copio e incollo i file (magari mi scappa qualcosa... ma non credo)
