Problema il pc si riavvia ( reset ).

Ho un problema con il pc e non riesco proprio a individuare la causa.
la mia configurazione è

CPU: PIV 3.0 Ghz 1 mb chace
MB: ASUS PG5D1 Pro fsb 800
Ram: 1gb ddr dual channel
Video: Ati Radeon HD2600 XT 256 ( + 256 mb turbocahce )
2 HD sata Maxtor.
Ali 400W 25A / +3.3v 35A / +5v 16A / +12V +0.8A/-12 0.5A / -5V 2A / +5 VSB

Attualmente ho come sistema operativo Windows Vista Ultimate.

Il problema consiste in un Freeze della macchina ( dalla disattivazione degli HD a un freeze della cpu ) specialmente quando gioco.
Le prestazioni in game sono ottime anche con i giochi + recenti pes 2008 timeshift ecc ecc riesco sempre ad avere una media in fps dai 40 ai 60 con i dettagli alti.
La frequenza dell'errore però è a cadenza quasi aritmetica, addirittura prevedibile. ( in pratica ogni volta che gioco freeza o si resetta il pc ).
In un primo momento era la cpu a dare problemi a causa della ormai usurata pasta dissipante che ho prontamente sostituito portando la temperatura della CPU da 60-70° a 30- 40 ( 50 a pieno carico ).
Codificando un DVD oppure nelle applicazioni di uso comune il pc ha cmq prestazioni ottime ( relativamente parlando trattandosi di macchina obsoleta).
La memoria è in condizioni normali, non ci sono errori nei banchi.
Avendo controllato tutto in ultima analisi il problema penso di averlo localizzato in questo:
A causa della particolare gestione della ram con vista e della condivisione in turbocache con la skeda video, una quantità di memoria pari a 1gb è già di suo insufficiente per giocare con vista. TEnendo presente che circa 4-500 mb siano dedicati esclusivamente alle rutine del sistema operativo, restano 500mb di ram liberi per altre applicazioni... Trattandosi di errori riscontrati esclusivamente con i giochi ho dedotto che di questi 500 mb, 256 sono "rubati" dalla skeda video, lasciando quindi solo 256 mb per l'applicativo in esecuzione...
Questa situazione di ram decisamente insufficiente, oltre a gravare ( visibilmente ) sulle prestazioni della macchina, può essere causa del reset / freeze della macchina?
Per evitare di spendere soldi e cambiare tutte le componenti interne, un upgrade dellla ram, potrebbe risolvere il problema?

rinnovo e innalzo la priorità della richiesta.
Ho eseguito controlli di tutti i tipi, la memoria ram è integra (memtest), le temperature ottime ( anche xkè fa parekkio freddo ), il sistema operativo è stabile ( sembra incredibile vero ) sia in standby che a mezzo carico (netsurfing, messenger, mediaplayer).
Ho deciso di stressare la macchina con qualche gioco a case aperto ed ho notato 2 cose strane.
1) quando il pc inizia a lavorare in maniera seria dopo aver lanciato un gioco, avverto in direzione della cpu o della ram, come un rumore di scarica elettrica il quale tende ad intensificarsi fino al riavvio della macchina.
2) il problema non avviene se rimuovo 1 banco di ram dall'alloggio. La cosa curiosa è che ho provato entrambi i banchi di ram e sono entrambi funzionanti e ho provanto anche tutti gli alloggi ed anche in questo caso nessun problema.
Pare che il fatto di avere 512 mb di ram, occupi + il sistema nello swapping della memoria, caricando meno sulla cpu, pertanto ancora non ho ben capito se si tratta effettivamente di una dispersione di elettricità nell'alloggio della cpu.
Una cosa che credo di aver imparato dai pc o meglio dall'elettronica in generale è che un pezzo o funziona o non funziona ( salvo nei casi di variazione di intensità di corrente come questo caso )...
Aiuto nn so che fare ... nel caso si tratti della mainboard, devo ricorrere al saldatore oppure dovrei cambiarla?

Io nn darei ogni componente per scontato, per esempio potrebbe essere che il rumore di scariche elettriche che senti nn provengano da dove pensi...prova a controllare l'alimentatore...oppure controlla anzichè qualche cavo passa troppo vicino alla ram o alla CPU...xkè se così fosse, cn le alte temperature la guaina protettiva potrebbe sciogliersi e così l'anima in rame sarebbe scoperta facendo contatto cn i componenti nel tuo pc!!!!!!
Controlla fisicamente i due banchi di ram ( potrebbe essere che qlk saldatura faccia poco contatto o si sia rotta) e poi prova a montarle nei due slot estremi.... un banco all'estrema destra e l'altro banco nell'estrema sinistra e prova a vedere ke risultati otteniamo!!!!
