M-Audio: l'assistenza tecnica mi risponde così...
Alla mia domanda riguardo un supporto driver per linux della mia m-audio audiphile firewire (che non viene riconosciuta dalle distro maggiori in fase d'installazione) l'assistenza ha risposto così:

Sfortunatamente non offriamo nessun supporto driver per Linux, tuttavia potresti voler provare il progetto Freebob.
Dovrebbero essere dei driver liberi per linux (non so quale sia il dispositivo in questione, ma a quanto leggo _potrebbe_ essere necessario mettere il firmware freebob)

Non essondo un esperto di linux chiedo a te visto che sei stato molto gentile:
si tratta di scaricare e compilare un driver giusto? Oppure è un firmware da applicare al mio dispositivo? Ho visto che si parla di sistemi operativi basati su debian; gli altri sono esclusi? (opensuse, mandriva, etc..) Grazie ancora.

Sembrerebbe si tratti solo di un driver...
Per quanto riguarda le altre distro, devi scaricarti il tarball e leggerti il README.
