Weathermap4RRD

Weathermap4RRD è un tool con il quale è possibile disegnare la topologia della propia lan e il flusso di banda utilizzata.
Delle immagini png vengono create contenenti i nodi della rete e i volumi di traffico

Il programma si appoggia a RRDtool, un round robin database

ecco un esempio di output di Weathermap4RRD



Per raccogliere i dati ho usato MRTG, creando degli script ad hoc e scegliendo come formato dei log "rrdtool"

Ovviamente il formato "rrtool" può anche essere utilizzato per generare grafici su piani cartesiano che analizziano le prestazioni o le informazioni di un dato processo o periferica

per generare questo grafico ho usato un FastCGI script, l'mrtg-rrd

Nei rep di debian non c'è l'ultimissima versione di Weathermap4RRD che ha alcune feautures interessanti; proverò a compilare da sorgenti l'ultima

Se qualcuno è interessato posso fare una guida che spiega in dettaglio come fare il tutto, anche se gran parte delle cose son già presenti nei link che ho messo o si trovano googlando

eh...

ho chiesto come fare a creare i grafici su ambiente linux
ma c'è pure roba da compilare ed io non sono capace per adesso..

cosi mi sono buttato su mrtg, visto che il mio router
ha snmp 1-2-3

volevo creare i grafici di snr, attenuazione e banda

ho seguito la guida per windows
ma ovviamente mi è uscita una lista di errori esagerata..

vabbe vedo se risolvo con la santa pazienza
visto che apparentemente mi pare + facile lavorare con win che con linux

esce solo +

Non credo che l'errore sia tanto nel file mrtg.cfg, quanto invece nel fatto che il comando "perl mrtg mrtg.cfg" non venga eseguito.

l'eseguibile di mrtg è scritto in perl e con il comando perl lo esegui, passando anche la configurazione relativa a mrtg (mrtg.cfg)

perl mrtg.cfg logicamente ti restituisce degli errori in quanto mrtg.cfg non è un eseguibile scritto in perl tale da poter essere eseguito.

a questo punto forse è meglio spostare la discussione nella sezione Networking visto che in Linux sia OT

Ok, allora appena ho tempo scrivo qualcosa

Kubuntu deriva da Ubuntu che a sua volta è basata su Debian, quindi credo proprio non ci siano differenze per la procedura di installazione di mrtg

Virtualmente si può tenere traccia di qualsiasi cosa con mrtg, basta avere un output che genera un numero ed è fatta (nel tuo caso, è sufficiente che il router ti dia via snmp i valori che desideri)

Una volta capito come funziona mrtg, l'unica cosa che varia fra le varie cfg per generare i grafici (a parte i vari abbellimenti) è il modo con cui estrapolare il numerino magico

Esattamente, localhost si riferisce alla macchina sui cui fai girare mrtg, mentre a te occorre monitorare via snmp un host remoto

Nella guida presumevo che snmp fosse già installato (non ricordo se in debian lo è di default)
