Upgrade CPU notebook...

Ciao a tutti,
ho un piccolo problema, dovrei sostituire la CPU del mio portatile ma non sono sicuro che la scheda madre del laptop supporti il nuovo processore...

Ecco i dettagli: il notebook e' un Compaq Evo N1015v che monta un Mobile AMD Athlon XP 1500+ (1333 MHz); Alias CPU: Thoroughbred-A

Fino a 3 anni fa Compaq forniva lo stesso modello (Evo N1015v) anche con un Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2000+.

Io invece ho trovato una CPU Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2400+ ; Alias CPU: Barton. Come posso essere sicuro che funzioni correttamente sulla motherboard del mio notebook prima di acquistarla ?

Non so se puo' servire questa informazione, ma ho notato che il tipo di bus della mia scheda madre e' uguale a quello del notebook su cui era montata la CPU AMD athlon XP 2400+ che vorrei acquistare, e cioe' "DEC Alpha EV6".

Un'ultima cosa, ho contattato Kingston la quale mi ha assicurato che il mio sistema supporta anche RAM So-dimm PC2700 (DDR333), ma mi domando se posso anche inserire della RAM PC3200 (DDR400) visto che l'AMD Athlon XP mobile 2400+ e' stato estratto da un notebook (ACER ASPIRE 1353LM) che montava appunto questo tipo di RAM...

l'unico problema è che il Barton non potrebbe venire riconosciuto per il tipo di core (con 512K di cache l2 anzichè 256K)

le ram puoi mettere anche le pc3200...

Ti ringrazio, vorra' dire che devo optare per un "THORO" visto che tutti i Barton hanno 512K di cache L2...

In ogni caso la mia CPU e' basata su Thoroughbred-A, ma non dovrebbe essere un problema passare al Thoroughbred-B visto che come mi hai fatto notare la cache L2 e' uguale (256K)...

Per la RAM, sei sicuro che posso montare le PC3200 ?
Purtroppo sara' difficile verificarlo visto che le memorie x il laptop in questione hanno una tecnologia di aggiornamento proprietaria, quindi non posso prendere delle So-dimm qualsiasi.

Tra l'altro l'unico produttore di moduli RAM DDR PC2700 compatibili col mio notebook e' Kingston ( KTH-ZD7000/512 ), in passato ho provato altre marche ma non erano compatibili nonostante avessero tutte ma proprio tutte le specifiche identiche alle ram originali...

Cmq le PC3200 per il mio sistema che io sappia non sono ancora prodotte da nessuno, per quel che ho visto, l'unica e' Kingston che fornisce le So-dimm fino alle DDR PC2700 (ora utilizzo ancora le PC2100 originali).

Se hai informazioni su RAM PC3200 adatte al Compaq Evo N1015v ti prego di farmelo sapere... Cmq GRAZIE ancora per la dritta, stavo per prendere una CPU incompatibile..... :-)

Dopo aver escluso il Barton (su consiglio di MIKIXT) ho trovato un Thoroughbred-B che ha la stessa cache L2 ed il cui FSB e' uguale (266 MHz, 133x2). Il voltaggio pero' non e' identico al mio 1500+, e' un problema ?

Non conosco ancora la sigla esatta del mio processore AMD Athlon XP-M 1500+, ma in base alla data in cui l'ho acquistato dovrebbe essere questa AXMD1500FQQ3C ; su cpu-world.com indica 1.45v ed in effetti con CPU-Z mi da' proprio 1.450v (alla voce "Voltage"), mentre stranamente con Everest mi da' 1.50 - 1.65 V (alla voce "Core Voltage") e 1.6 V alla voce I/O Voltage.

La sigla del nuovo processore AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ da montare e' questa: AXMA2400FKT3C ; la sua tensione operativa e' 1.65 V. Domanda: Puo' funzionare senza problemi al posto del suddetto 1500+ nonostante il voltaggio sia differente ?

potresti avere problemi di surriscaldamento...anche perchè 1,65v è il voltaggio come sui barton 3000+ da desktop...inoltre non è detto che la mobo potrebbe erogare un simile voltaggio...

Ho visto che i low voltage non sono compatibili col socket A (462)...

Cmq il processore + potente con voltaggio uguale al 1500+ che ho ora (1.45v) e' l'XP-M 2200+ AXMH2200FQQ3C

A questo punto forse ho finalmente trovato la soluzione grazie a te, non so se cpu-world sia davvero aggiornato, ma in base a quel database non esisterebbero altre CPU + potenti adatte alla mia mobo... Correggimi se sbaglio...

L'unica cosa che non mi e' chiara e' se quella differenza di una lettera (H invece di D) nella sigla e' determinante, cioe':
__il mio XP-M 1500+ ha la sigla AXMD1500FQQ3C
mentre l'XP-M 2200+ ha la sigla AXMH2200FQQ3C

Se ho capito bene, secondo cpu-world la lettera D dovrebbe indicare il "processor power" di 35 W;
La lettera H invece indicherebbe il processor power di 45 W.

Quindi la CPU 2200+ da montare funziona a 45 W mentre la mia attuale CPU 1500+ funziona a 35 W....
E' un problema o puo' funzionare comunque sulla mia mobo ?
