ho quella scheda madre della asrock, sotto ubuntu non riesco a far andare:
audio
e ethernet.
cosa indispensabile la seconda.

è importante risalire al chipset della ethernet dunque visto che sul link che hai postato non viene indicato la cosa migliore da fare è postare il risultato del comando:
lspci

se non hai quel comando installa il pacchetto pciutils e riprova.
così poi si vede quali moduli bisogna caricare.

lo faccio con 3 obiettivi:
1. paraculo in caso di ban a tal punto da far sentire la mia mancanza ai mod ;
2. se mai nel 2008 serve un altro mod ilsensine si ricorderà di me e nel mio Curriculum ci piazzo: dal 2008 ad oggi moderatore della sezione Linux sul forum di Hardware Upgrade
3. poi se capita aumento la mia conoscenza informatica. (ma questo già e meno importante )

ma nn c riesco.
mi dice che ho gcc4, mentre il kernel è compilato con la versione 3.4 e quindi ci sono problemi

2 scelte: ho ricompilo il kernel o fai un downgrade di gcc.
io opterei per la prima scelta anche perchè la seconda sarebbe come dargliela per vinta a lui

posso prendere i .deb di debian?

lascia stare ancora pppoeconf, postami "ifconfig", "dmseg |grep eth", dimmi che ip ha il tuo modem e che ip vuoi dare al pc.

allora
ho un router. l'ip del router è 192.168.1.1
nel router il pc fisso sotto windows è settato a 192.168.1.2
per quando uso linux può andare bene qualsiasi ip.
ora sono in windows, dopo se riavvio provo a fare quello ceh mi hai detto..

nel tuo /etc/resolv.conf metti i dns del tuo isp nella forma presente nel link che ti ho passato.

se il modulo sis900 è caricato con il comando modprobe sis900 e con lsmod ti risulta essere presente, prova a fare un restart della rete e vedi se con ifconfig trovi una eth0 tirata su, a quel punto proverei a fare dei ping verso router, se arrivi fin quà si vede pppoeconf.

perchè non configuri il router in modalirà routed connettendosi in automatico?
p.s. ricorda di postarmi i comandi che ti ho passato prima.
