Si potrà creare una rete tra il portatile e il fisso???
È proprio questa la domanda che mi assilla quest'oggi...
Ho provato a mettere in piedi una bella rete ad hoc, ma il destino mi è avverso. Non sono riuscito a combinare un tubo di nulla. Il portatile è un Compaq Evo N1015v e anche il fisso è un desktop; entrambi le schede di rete sono perfettamente rinosciute ed entrambi i pc sono collegati ad uno switch (insieme anche al modem adsl). Dato a windows un indirizzo ip e un numero di subnet mask, sono passato a Linux, definendo anche qui le stesse cose con l'oppurtuno strumento. A proposito, uso Fedora core 4 e prima di mettermi a fare tutta questa baraonda ho installato tramite yum samba, con tutte le dipendenze annesse. Fatto questo ho provato a fare un ping da un computer all'altro, ma niente di che. Un primo problema è questo: i due pc sembrano non parlarsi. L'altro problema è che il modo di gestire i file mi sembra molto spartano, considerando che un mio amico sotto mandrake aveva tutto molto user friendly ed io, che mi avvicino alla rete per la prima volta, non vorrei trovarmi a combattere contro dei muri; mi serve qualcosa di meno spartano. Vi chiedo inoltre di segnalarmi qualche buona guida da tenere lì, non si sa mai. Windows è windows xp. Vi ringrazio tutti e infinitamente Ciao

Umm.... Hai detto che non riesci a pingare i computer?
Allora: 1) disattiva ogni firewall (controlla che iptables non sia attivo sotto linux e che quella ciofeca che chimano indegnamente firewall sotto windows stia nel posto che gli compete). Prova a pingare google.com. Se ottieni un output tipo questo qua sotto 99% sei firewalled.... Codice:

Ho prestato molta attenzione ai vostri interventi, e ringrazio tutti.
Il problema però persiste. Sotto linux non ho nessun firewall attivato (uso firestarter ed è facile zittirlo) e in windows credo anche: nella specifica connessione LAN il segno di spunta su "proteggi etc." non c'è e inoltre, non avendo il sp2, non penso di avere nessun firewall, per come lo intendiamo. Quindi la questione è questa: pingando google.com da entrambi i pc ottengo risultati positivi, utilizzando la connessione adsl. Se tento di raggiungere i due computer tra di loro non riesco in nulla, entrambi mi rispondono che non c'è trippa per gatti... Sostanzialmente i due sistemi non si vedono, o se non altro non riescono a comunicare tra loro. A mio parere potrebbe essere windows, ma non ne sono sicuro. Inoltre non so dove collocare la discussione: su questa sezione o in quella windows (dove però pochi sanno di linux, mentre da noi si sa anche di quel demonio?)? Facciamo sto esperimento.... Stacca ttutti i collegamenti e collega direttamente le due schede di rete con un cavo ethernet incrociato.... si pingano i due pc ora?

Ho fatto una prova: ho tentato con un cavo denominato "csa" che secondo una ipotesi dovrebbe indicare un cavo incrociato. Putroppo nulla: linux digerisce tutto alla perfezione, ma windows no, dice che c'è il cavo di rete scollegato e non mi lascia fare nulla...

Oltre ad averlo installato Samba l'hai anche avviato come server?
Dovresti mettere ad entrambi i pc lo stesso gruppo di lavoro, preferibilmente far diventare Samba master browser, creare l'utente che ti serve su Samba, condividere qualcosa su Linux (di default dovrebbe condividere le home mi pare, ma non ricordo se di default sono navigabili) e poi dovresti esserci se si pingano... per vedere se windows ha firewall attivi fai destro sulla connessione alla rete lan e l'ultima tab a destra dovrebbe essere quella giusta... Se hai un antivirus occhio,se non sbaglio Norton blocca anche il ping, devi abilitare nei "computer sicuri" l'ip che vuoi far comunicare con lui. |

Questo si è rivelato sbagliato, perché togliendo il cavo del modem e lasciando gli altri due tutto è filato liscio, ping a buon fine e i due pc che si vedono (purtroppo direttamente, uno attaccato all'altro no, ma non voglio strafare stasera). Il problema ora è Samba, che sembra avere permessi incomprensibili per windows, ma sto procedendo anche lì, se avrò grane verrò sicuramente qui. Ringrazio tutti quelli che mi hanno dato una mano e che me la daranno, mi siete stati molto utili ragazzi. Ciao

Per esperienza personale:
Se in /etc/samba il file smb.conf è quello che viene generato di default, fa' una bella cosa, rinominalo (tipo smb.originale), cancellalo e rifallo a mano di nuovo con giusto il minimo indispensabile. Tipo: [global] workgroup = NOME_RETE server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu) dns proxy = no security = share wins support = no [share] path = /home/share-folder comment = Cartella Pubblica available = yes browseable = yes public = yes writable = yes Io ho incontrato problemi anche a condividere macchine Win con attivati firewall tipo Sygate e Zone Alarm. Facci sapere.

Adesso l'unica cosa che mi manca è proprio samba, e il problema sono i permessi per le cartelle e i percorsi di queste, perché windows vede le cartelle condivise in linux, ma dice che non può aprirle perché le mancano i permessi. Linux quando entro nella rete mi dice che c'è un errore dovuto sempre a permessi ed annessi...
