EVEN THOUGH hasn't completely finished R350 as they are waiting for production silicone as we speak, we believe we have some solid information about what to expect from the cards.
ATI's magic goal is to achieve 400MHz/800 MHz for the card and memory while we know that it can easily clock it to 375 MHz, which can be considered as the lowest frequency of R350.

The final silicon should be back from TSMC any day now, as product is almost ready and when it does we will try to confirm the information about the final clock. 400 to 425 MHz is a dream target.

R350 is likely to stay with the Radeon 9x00 branding name, where x will be replaced with 8 or 9, so it may well be named the Radeon 9800 or 9900.

We heard that ATI's R350 will beat Geforce FX in eight out of 10 benchmarks, and we learned that one of benchmarks they will lose will be Quake 3. This could be true since the R350 will have 6Gb/Sec memory bandwidth more than the 9700 Pro.

The card will be equipped with 128 MB memory while it will support 256MB configurations and 128MB variations will be priced around the €400 mark.

It will, we think, be introduced in the first week of March and we reckon that's intended to throw dust into Nvidia's eyes.

But will the R350 be faster than the GeForce FX? That remains to be seen.. µ

Sounds like ATI has an Ace up their sleave: a top dog at ATI has told us that the R350 will debut in march, and as told before will be 10% faster than the FX, but the kicker will be that it's also $150 cheaper. The massive price difference is due to the fact the R350 will be a 10 layer PCB, while Nvidia's fastest will require 12 layers. Graphics wars are gonna be interesting in the coming months to say the least...

I seguenti benchmark, sono stati presi dal manuale del nuovo PC Desktop 'Project Predator' di Alienware

1)ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
- Quake 3 Demo001 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 147 fps
- UT 2003 Asbestos 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 119 fps
- 3D Mark 2001 Game 4 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 45 fps

2)Nvidia GeForce FX:
- Quake 3 Demo001 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 209 fps +42%
- UT 2003 Asbestos 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 140 fps +24%
- 3D Mark 2001 Game 4 1600x1200 2xFSAA: 41 fps -10%


La Fx ad Ut2003 fa solo 21 frame in + , mentre nell'importante test Nature fa addirittura 4 frame in meno della 9700Pro..........x l'OpenGL Quake 3 mi sembra un po' datato.......era meglio usare RTCW.......pensate il confronto con la Radeon 9900Pro ( R350 )...

Strano non ci siano test con l'AA 4x attivo......

il P4 insegna.......
800mhz di DDR a 256 Vs 1ghz di DDR 128bit

senza contare poi le varie otttimizzazioni

L'R350 è in tecnologia 0,15 (l'RV350 sarà 0,13).

Il vantaggio dell'R350 è che pare sia pin to pin compatibile con l'R300, quindi possono montarla sugli stessi pcb esistenti.

Sarà interessante vedere come Ati riposizionerà la serie R300 (dal 9500 al 9700pro), se riescono a vendere delle 9500liscie (nn tutte purtroppo) che sono in realtà delle 9700liscie (senza rimetterci), si preannuncia una splendida primavera
... se solo Karmak rispettasse i tempi

Comunque mi sa che vincerà la scheda più overcloccabile ma non penso i bench siano attendibili anche perchè è troppa poca la differenza! ricordiamoci la differenza tra ti4600 e 9700PRO! sono abissali quindi credo che la fx farà il suo gioco e la farà alla pari con la nuova R350 solo per via del prezzo!
Comunque devo fare i complimenti ad entrambe le case ATI e nVidia
xk se continuano con questo agonismo possiamo solo trarne vantaggi noi videogiocatori e questo da entrambe le marche quindi niente giudizzi tipo è piu brava una o l'altra!

...be di vantaggi noi videogiocatori ne traiamo solo se apriamo il portafogli, perchè la guerra la fanno su schede da 400 Euro e passa e non su quelle da 200 Euro....e poi la differenza che c è tra una 4200 e una 9700 non è tale da giustificare il prezzo...

Oddio..... diciamo così, la differenza tra una 4200@4600 e una 9700 non è tale da giustificare il prezzo, ma allora la differenza di prezzo tra una 4200 e una 4600?
Non mi sembra uno degli esempi più azzeccati.

Oppure è come dire la differenza tra una 9500@9700pro e una 9700pro non è tale da giustificare il prezzo, ma non dipende da scelte di mercato, ma di smanettoni che portano le sched di fascia bassa alle prestazioni di quelle di fascia alta
