Price wars have already started. Nvidia already dropped GTX 280 to $499 and it looks that GTX 260 will sell for $399.

Nvidia is still telling its partners that $399 is the launch price for Geforce GTX 260 but it looks that this card will quickly go down to $349. With $349, GTX 260 looks much more attractive and it will do well against $329 priced Radeon HD 4870 but as we suggested once ATI feels threatened it will simply drive the prices down.

Nvidia sells Geforce 9800GTX at $299, which means if GTX260 price goes down, Nvidia has to drive 9800GTX down too. Radeon HD 4870 beats 9800GTX and there is your problem. At this point, at least when it comes to average selling price of Nvidia cards, we simply have to say DAAMIT what have you done.

Forse questo è il motivo del posticipo della presentazione della 260. Così possono fare un singolo prezzo eccessivo per i fessi che non sono in grado di aspettare una settimana e poi alla presentazione della 260 porteranno più in basso quello della 280

A mio avviso restando in casa Intel credo che sarà necessaria una cpu dual core da almeno 2,4 a 3.0 GHz con FSB a 1066 MHz, il quad core con i giochi é attualmente quasi inutile, però credo che con lo sviluppo della fisica troverà presto il suo utilizzo anche in questo ambito... poi un leggero OC alla cpu non guasta mai

The short story: not enough, not nearly enough. It is barely faster than a GX2, yields are crap, and there will only be a syphilitic trickle of parts on launch, slowing to next to nothing after that.
Remember though, these parts are $449 for the 260, $649 for the 280, and they are barely faster than the ATI 770/4870. On price/performance, they lose badly, really badly, to the 770. On the high end, the R700 spanks them by wide margins, but those numbers will have to wait a bit.
If you are thinking that NV will put out a dual card, don't hold your breath, they are power limited, die size limited, cost limited and production limited.
They can't make it until the shrink in late fall, and even then it is questionable. Is the card quick? Yeah, it is decent. Is it good enough? Nope, not even close. This card is a dinosaur, too hot, too late. µ

Gente....qui nn se ne po' +!........Ancora nn si sa in quali quantità arriveranno da noi....fino a lunedì i negozi ancora nn possono dire niente..i rpezzi poi????....570?.....550?......1 link di poche pagine fa diceva 649 dollari....(imposto ufficialmente da Nvidia) ke tradotto da noi sarebbero circa 425 Euro......e poi....te la ritroci qua a 100 euri di +.....MAh....speriamo almeno ke i benchmark volino.....ed ho anke da kiedervi 1 consiglio:....Ma per ki ha un 22 pollici come monitor...conviene farsi una gtx280 o scegliere uan sempre ottima 9800gx2?....Grazie...

Effettivamente è un tantinello di parte... leggendo l'articolo sembra che quelli di NVidia, quando hanno chiuso fuori questi di "theinquirer" ("THANKS TO NVIDIA'S shutting us out") l'hanno fatto anche con un bel sonoro calcio nel culetto

Les prix des cartes graphiques !

La sortie des nouvelles cartes graphiques NVIDIA et AMD est prévue pour la semaine prochaine et les revendeurs commencent à recevoir des informations sur les prix de vente définitifs. Voici la liste des prix d'après les informations que nous avons reçu :

NVIDIA GeForce 280 GTX : 569 euros
NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX : 409 euros
AMD ATI Radeon HD 4870 : 279 euros
AMD ATI Radeon HD 4850 : 190 euros

Les prix des cartes graphiques sont donc revues à la hausse, mais les performances le seront également. Toutes ces cartes graphiques devraient disposer à peu près du même rapport performances/prix. AMD ne devrait donc pas jouer dans le haut de gamme et se contentera de fournir le marché de milieu de gamme.

Cmq i prezzi delle Nvidia sono ipotizzati ancora troppo alti, dovrebbero esser scesi a 549 per la GTX280 e a 379 per la GX260... almeno cosi sembra!

credo(e anche spero)che quei 409€ si riferiscano al vecchio prezzo di 449$ e non ai 399$ attuali. spero.
