ciao ragazzi..ho un problemuccio..volevo comprare questo eee pc solo che una cosa mi ferma..diciamo che lo userei per l'università quindi fin qui tutto ok..il problema nasce dal fatto che io in internet ci vado collegandomi via cavo a un cell 3 e il software per installarlo è solo per windows xp e quindi non so come fare..sinceramente non vorrei subito prenderlo e installare windows dato che quello che ha linux mi va più che bene vedi programmi per scrivere vedere filmati ecc..voi che siete informatici sapete se c'è una soluzione per far andare internet col cell e usando sto software nel eeepc??anche l'idea di un hd esterno non mi garba??altre soluzioni??se mi risolvete sto problema vi offro una birra anche 2..

Ho fatto il RamDrive con SuperSoft Randrive Plus 8.0.4.0

Gli ho assegnato 1GB di Ram e partizione fatta in FAT32.

Gli ho messo dentro tutto quello che sono file temporanei e file di continuo accesso al disco e vi posso dire che...................

L'EEEPC VOLAAAAAA!!!

In + questo programma permette di salvare il contenuto del RamDrive alla chiusura di Windows!!

Io ho messo il tutto nella SDHC e ora và veramente bene!!!

Fate la prova, non tornerete + indietro!!!!

Ho messo anche VistaMizer così sembra che Vista va a 2000

E poi un influentissimo esperto del settore che usa una fotocamera kodak e non sa come fare per abilitare la connessione wireless automatica è un buffone

il fatto e' che solo per installare un opera devo fare sbattimenti! Ora... essendo nubbo in campo informatico volevo qualcosa che mi permetta di installare programmi (fuori dalla lista dei rep). Spero che le altre distro permettano di installare semplici cose con pochi click o pochi comandi

We've had the Asus Eee PC $399 4GB model in my house since launch. And while you can't argue with the system's unbeatable size/performance/price ratio, users should know that once the honeymoon euphoria of the cheap ultraportable wears off, they're going to deal with some persistent issues that very well may be deal breakers.


Screen
You know the 7-inch screen size will be small—but really, it's too small for extended use. Seeing my wife working on the laptop, I watch as the screen gradually moves closer and closer to her face, until she's basically wearing the computer like video goggles. A 10-inch screen model sounds like the sweet spot, and more what you've envisioned as ideal.

Bugs
The system is, quite simply, not stable to work on. It freezes up frequently when just going through the system's dashboard—even without multitasking in progress. And launching OpenOffice apps can be a hit or miss process, too. Sure, the system is easy enough to reboot (and speedy in this regard as well), but the OS just never feels stable.

My guess is that bugs and performance issues stem from a hardware problem (maybe that stick 512MB isn't enough after all) and an unpolished OS (Asus' custom Linux system could use a few patches for sure). But, most certainly, the 512MB of RAM isn't enough given the inefficiency of the OS's memory management. Asus, where are our updates? We're still running software version 1.0. This must be the least-patched OS in history.

Wi-Fi
The biggest annoyance, by far, has to be the system's subpar Wi-Fi. If nothing else, the Eee is meant to be a web-surfing machine, the perfect companion to your overpriced espresso drink. But it has a ton of difficulty finding hotspots. Expect to retry detection several times before a list of local networks appears. That might not sound all that tedious, but losing five minutes plus when connecting to the internet—frequently—gets real old real fast in the year 2008.

And these problems even occur with your own saved networks. For some reason the Eee doesn't like to remember security keys. Users eventually become smart enough to paste the code somewhere in their documents, but really, should we have to?

Conclusions
I'm not sure that the Eee is a "don't buy." But more and more every day, I'm wishing that we'd invested the $400 elsewhere (a new smartphone, for instance). Initial reviews accepted the system's shortcomings partially because everyone loved that golden price/performance/size ratio and partially, even tacitly, because many expected bugs to be ironed out in due course.

Maybe more RAM would improve the experience, but at this point I'm fearing the investment. Maybe loading Ubuntu will solve the OS problems—I plan on doing just that this weekend—but most users won't deal with that hassle. At this point our love affair is over and we realize that the Asus Eee PC, as important as it may be for the market, is a glorious "miss" in its current state.

Non è fatto per scriverci una tesi, e se la moglie è cecata a noi non ce ne frega niente: 7" sono obbligati per un ultraportatile, altrimenti nella borsa o zainetto ti porti una zavorra.

Questi "bug" e "freeze" li ha solo lui, a me non si è mai piantato nonostante avessi diversi programmi aperti.
La ram è più che sufficente per l'utilizzo che se ne deve fare.

Se poi uno non capisce che per ottenere questo deve cambiare l'opzione da "Manuale" ad "automatica" nelle proprietà della scheda wireless, che vada a fare le recensioni dei frullatori.

Beh devo dire che la stroncatura di cui sopra mi pare perfettamente coerente.
I difettti elencati ci sono tutti e Asus dovrebbe porvi rimedio.
Fortunatamente i principali difetti elencati a parte lo schermo piccolo che volenti o nolenti per avere queste dimensioni a questo prezzo e' un compromesso per me accettabile sono tutti del software.
Asus effettivamente dovrebbe aggiornare urgentemente in particolare il software del wi-fi che su xandros non e' che funzioni molto bene.
In particolare sono problematici il rilevamento delle reti e la registrazione delle password delle stesse.
La ram invece secondo me se non si ha in testa di mettere vista e' piu' che sufficiente, XP anche se con qualche problema gira anche con 64mb e 128mb sono quelli consigliati da ms alla sua uscita.

quindi 512mb sono piu' che sufficenti.
Io con installato XP Pro sp2 completo (non Nlite) e Open Office e qualche piccola utility dopo aver ripulito i file inutili (cache degli aggiornamenti ecc)ho ancora circa 2gb liberi, ho disattivato il file di page tanto per esperimento e ho scoperto a dire il vero con stupore che funziona benissimo anzi mi sembra piu' reattivo.
Sono riuscito ad esaurire la ram solo dopo aver aperto tutti i programmi di open office, 3 o 4 immagini col draw dello stesso, un filmato in streaming, outlook e 3 o 4 sessioni di firefox con almeno 10 tabs cadauna di goggle image e youtube.
Dopo questa prova quindi immagino che in un uso normale del pc finire la ram sia quasi impossibile.
Certo se voglio provare a caricare qualche gioco 3d o 3d studio max potrei avere dei problemi ma non penso che questi siano gli utilizzi piu' sensati del piccolino.

Concordo con te sull'ultimo punto ma credimi il software di gestione del wifi dell'eeepc fa cagare ha seri problemi di interfaccia con il 90% dei server hdcp e spesso bisogna mettergli manualmente l'ip del router perche' funzioni.
Il discorso di mettere in automatico la connessione nell'apposita scheda funziona finche non ti attacchi ad un altra rete poi devi reimpostarla a mano compresa la password wep o wpa.
