nonostante tutto è a 16 gol stagionali

United are washed away by Milan tide By Henry Winter in Milan Match details AC Milan (2) 3 Manchester United (0) 0 Agg: 5-3 Manchester United suffered heartache here last night, being outclassed and outwitted by a superior Milan side, who now go on to face Liverpool in the European Cup final on May 23. United are washed away by Milan tide Bowing out: Sir Alex Ferguson's dream ended in Milan As well as smiling policemen, relieved at avoiding a final between bitter rivals from the East Lancs Road, Athens will brim with sub-plots, many harking back to Istanbul two years ago. Can Milan hold on to a three-goal lead? Will Gennaro Gattuso risk smirking in the tunnel at half-time as Steven Gerrard goes past? Will Dida match the penalty-saving brio of his Anfield counterpart? Will the wise heads of Milan live with the strong hearts of Liverpool. Many admiring eyes will be on the clever Brazilian artist, Kaka, surely destined for European Footballer of the Year honours after eclipsing his main challenger, Cristiano Ronaldo. Milan's progress also provides a welcome tonic for Serie A, after recent travails, including losing out to Poland and Ukraine as hosts of Euro 2012. They were singing in the rain in Milan last night. Just as the elements threw everything at the contestants, so Milan launched everything at United, seizing the lead after 11 minutes through Kaka, and extending it through Clarence Seedorf on the half-hour. The English were being given a lesson in pass and move, support and shoot: Milan's football was chess with knives, and United were cut to pieces. The determination of Carlo Ancelotti's players was immense: Gattuso went in so hard on Darren Fletcher that he lost a shin-pad, but not the ball. With Gattuso patrolling midfield, Milan controlled the first half. Kaka, again imperious, had already given notice of the danger contained in his elegant frame, eluding the hapless Nemanja Vidic with alarming ease in the first minute. Kaka screwed his cross-shot harmlessly wide, but he had raised serious concerns about the United centre-half's match fitness after five weeks out injured. Like the rain, Milan's attacks were relentless. Seedorf let fly from 20 yards, forcing Edwin van der Sar into a smart save. Massimo Oddo then crossed for Kaka to test Van der Sar with a well-placed shot, fortunately lacking venom. Oddo, the Milan right-back, was enjoying acres of space, and when he delivered a fine ball towards Seedorf, United's defensive strength dissolved. Vidic failed to close down Kaka, who had ghosted away from Fletcher in midfield, gliding on to Seedorf's headed flick, menace trailing in his wake. His finish was magnificent, the ball swept irresistibly past Van der Sar. San Siro erupted, the Ultras screaming in delight, waving the placards that had spelled out "WIN FOR US'' before kick-off. The reaction was understandable: Kaka's was a goal that could have graced the local catwalks. Milan sought to extend their advantage, Kaka teeing up Andrea Pirlo, whose left-footed shot skimmed just wide. United appeared daunted, cautious even, with Paul Scholes eschewing tackles as he was on a booking. Ferguson had removed Scholes from the boiler room, initially playing him as the middle man in a support trident behind Wayne Rooney, but Scholes soon dropped back to assist Fletcher and Michael Carrick in fighting the fires fanned by Kaka. Ryan Giggs showed there was life in the visitors, drawing a smothering stop from Dida, but United's usual outlets, Ronaldo and Rooney, endured a half filled with frustration. Ronaldo spent much of the opening period watching the excellent Oddo steaming past him. And when Ronaldo did collect the ball, Gattuso was there, like a starving pit bull, snapping away at Portuguese ankles. Five minutes from the break, Ferguson switched his attacking players, pushing Ronaldo more central, but Milan were two goals to the good by then. Again Vidic was found wanting, losing possession to Pirlo, on United's left as San Siro cackled. Again Milan showed their capacity to mete out swift punishment. Pirlo's delivery caused chaos, Vidic heading hurriedly out to Seedorf on the edge of the box. The Dutchman touched the ball past Carrick, ignored Vidic's rash challenge and drilled the ball inexorably past Van der Sar. San Siro loved it. Now United really did have a mountain to climb, although they took heart from memories of Stadio delle Alpi eight years ago. But they needed a Roy Keane, a catalyst, to take the game to the Italians. And they still had stormy waters to negotiate; Filippo Inzaghi almost made it three from another scintillating move just before half-time. Ferguson's interval oratory is well noted, yet still it was Milan writing the script of the evening's entertainment in this footballing La Scala. When Ronaldo lost possession, Milan were away, Kaka invading Vidic's nightmares again, utterly bamboozling the tall Serb as he swayed inside. Van der Sar somehow rescued United with a save from close range. United seemed shaken into life. Ronaldo, hitherto anonymous, sprung into action and powered in a shot well blocked by Alessandro Nesta. Ronaldo was now revealing his high-speed threat, drawing a foul from Gattuso. The PFA Player of the Year thumped his free kick into a suspiciously advanced Milanese wall. Milan had taken their foot off the accelerator, reminding the English of events in Istanbul, where Gerrard and company famously clawed back three goals. Carlo Ancelotti was having none of it, and he moved decisively to shake off the air of complacency, sending on Alberto Gilardino for Inzaghi. Gilardino immediately struck, racing 50 yards, before calmly placing the ball around Van der Sar. Game over. And so to Athens. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai...3/sfgmil03.xml
