HELP vi prego, risoluzione bloccata con driver nvidia su ubuntu 9.10

Ragazzi vi prego qualcuno mi aiuti sto IMPAZZENDO...

Se installo i driver nvidia la massima risoluzione selezionabile diventa 640... e piu schermate a 640 si affiancano per panning...

Le ho provate tutte per sistemare il problema ma non c'è verso... vi prego aiuto, sto davvero impazzendo :( se qualcuno ha la pazienza di seguirmi in msn gli passo il mio contatto! grazie!)

installate i driver nvidia e poi sostituite questi due file allegati ai vostri :) fatemi sapere se ho aiutato qualcuno :D

Ho fatto anche come dicono loro... il problema non è l'installazione dei driver, che si conclude felicemente, ma la possibilità di cambiare risoluzione :( ho provato anche usare guide per settare a mano xorg.config ma niente da fare :( sullo schermo mi appaiono 6 finestrine uguali ognuna con una risoluzione 320x200 o qualcosa del genere... uff :( devo rinunciare a usare ubuntu???

cmq magari hai incasinato tutto facendo mille prove.... Se ti è possibile formatta.... Al momento del primo avvio segui questa scaletta:

1) aggiorna il sistema ed in fine riavvia

2) vai su Sistema > Amministrazione > Driver Hardware e installi, infine riavvia.

e vedi che succede

Prova ad installare la suite di programmini xresprobe:
sudo apt-get install xresprobe

Dopodiché prova ad eseguire ddcprobe:
sudo ddcprobe | less

Se alla prima esecuzione dovesse andare in errore, riprova e scrivici il risultato.

Ipotizzo che l'elemento che crea il tuo problema sia il monitor, che non comunica correttamente le informazioni EDID (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_display_identification_data).

Altro elemento fondamentale per analizzare il problema è il contenuto del log /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Prima di cominciare a cercare i dati necessari: se esegui il comado ddcprobe un paio di volte di seguito riesci ad ottenere i dati edid in almeno una esecuzione?
In caso di risposta negativa specifica precisamente il modello del tuo monitor, eventualmente tirane fuori il manuale.

Specifica anche la risuluzione che ti interessa impostare e la frequenza verticale/refresh.

Sì, scusa, ho letto adesso il post in cui dicevi che è un notebook.

Dunque, non sono riuscito a trovare la frequenza verticale del monitor, mentre la risoluzione dovrebbe essere 1366 x 768, esatto?
Ricordi qual'è la frequenza di refresh corretta? Se sul manuale non è proprio presente, se hai ancora Win installato dovresti rintracciarla nelle opzioni avanzate del monitor.

Sì, prova a commentare quella riga o a mettere true, poi riavvia il server grafico.

Se ancora non funziona proveremo un metamode manuale.

Ok, facciamo in questo modo: posta il contenuto del tuo /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Il modeline che andrò ad impostare l'ho calcolato in questo modo:
cvt 1366 768 60 -v
ed ha questi valori:
# 1368x768 59.88 Hz (CVT) hsync: 47.79 kHz; pclk: 85.25 MHz

Probilmente è simile al tentativo che hai citato prima, ma è facile fare piccole imprecisioni che non lo fanno funzionare, quindi vediamo che succede con il file che ti costruisco...

In quel file hai impostato i driver nv, che sono quelli free con capacità 3D nulle. Li hai impostati tu? Quelli NVidia sono installati, vero?
Ti imposto gli nvidia, metto il metamode e riordino un minimo.

Fai un backup del file funzionante, metti questo, riavvia il server grafico.
Se non funziona posta il solito Xorg.0.log... senò ti avvii verso la bassa, tra le nebbie e le nutrie, e me lo porti :) (è un Parma provincia...)

niente non vuol proprio funzionare... adesso voglio provare a reinstallare ubuntu, installo i driver e copio il config che mi hai dato tu... pero' lo faccio domani che se continuo ancora un po lancio il pc fuori dalla finestra -.-''

e la risoluzione bloccata.. sto impazzendo con questo problema..
ho un sonyvaio che ha monitor 14 pollici come il tuo.
puoi spiegarmi come hai fatto a risolvere?
o mandare anche a me l' xorg.conf!

Installa i driver nvidia e poi sostituosci questi file!

Ah salvateli perchè ad ogni installazione dei driver devi rimetterli!
