Beh c'è un post in particolare che racconta un aneddoto del Nostro e che mi ha fatto gelare il sangue...

Luc proposes a small change to Emacs:

I propose to change paragraph-start in Shell mode and Ielm[…]

I can install if desired.

After some discussion, the change is made, but problems with the change are soon discovered. (You can read the whole thread over at gmane if you’re interested in the technical details, which are irrelevant to my purpose here.) RMS sensibly decides that reverting the change is best, and asks Stefan to implement:

This is very disturbing news.

There are only two ways out of this squeeze: to back up to the previous consistent design, or move forward to a new one. One advantages in moving back is that we know where the changes would have to be made. We don’t know all the places that would have to be changed to move forward.

Since the change was not made intentionally, and since there is no great advantage in this alteration in the specifications of paragraph-start, I think it is best if we move back.

Stefan, can you work on that?

Stefan is very understandably busy with his new daughter, and thus can’t help just now:

I just got a baby girl and am kind of swamped.

RMS fails to offer the customary congratulations, or in fact any amount of human understanding:

I am sorry to hear it. Unless someone else can figure these things out, I guess the release has to wait until you have time. [Emphasis mine.]

Now at this point you might assume that RMS is only disappointed that Stefan doesn’t have the time to work on Emacs, and that he’s not disappointed in Stefan’s particular reason. Such an assumption would be mistaken.

Nick very reasonably offers Stefan the opposite sentiment:

Congratulations, Stefan! I suggest that you spend any spare time with your daughter as she will grow up before you know it. Emacs, on the other hand, will still be around after she has left home.

RMS believes he didn’t make himself sufficiently clear before, and expounds upon his earlier callousness:

it doesn’t take special talents to reproduce—even plants can do it. On the other hand, contributing to a program like Emacs takes real skill. That is really something to be proud of.

It helps more people, too.

E' un grande uomo, sempre rispettoso delle esigenze altrui, mai egoista. E poi, sicuramente le piante si riproducono, ma lui potrebbe avere qualche difficolta' se non si fa una doccia ogni tanto... :D

Ci sono tante sfumature di intelligenza nel nostro cervello, quella logico-matematica e' solo una di queste.
Un uomo per dirsi completo dovrebbe averle tutte.

Purtroppo capita spesso che chi ne privilegia una non riesce a sviluppare le altre.
Pochi riescono a svilupparle tutte, questi sono i veri geni.

Evidentemente anche lui e' come tutti quelli che ne sviluppano una e non le altre. In questo senso e' un mediocre.
Non e' necessario avere speciali talenti per sviluppare una sola intelligenza a discapito delle altre.

Poco merito a me. Non e' farina del mio sacco.
Dalla teoria di Howard Gardner.
Non e' una teoria universalmente accettata, ma almeno la parte sulla suddivisione delle predisposizioni lo e' abbastanza, dato che si rispecchia anche nelle analisi elettriche del cervello durante le TAC e le elettromio-qualcosa.

- Bodily-Kinesthetic
Uso del movimento del proprio corpo, "Memoria" della posizione dei muscoli. Danza, sport. Capacita' di suonare strumenti musicali
- Interpersonal
Interazione con gli altri. Capacita' manageriali e politiche. Leadership
- Verbal-Linguistic
Capacita' di imparare e gestire piu' lingue, sia a livello orale che scritto
- Logical-Mathematical
Logica, astrazione, induzione e deduzione. La principale per il nostro campo
- Intrapersonal
Capacita' introspettiva, analisi e coscienza di se'
- Spatial
la capacita' di figurare relazioni tra oggetti bi e tridimensionali. Manipolazione mentale di panorami tridimensionali
- Musical
la capacita' di figurare relazioni temporali. Ritmo, musica, toni, composizione musicale, capacita' di astrarre la musica leggendone una qualsiasi codifica (lettura mentale degli spartiti musicali)
- Naturalistic
La capacita' di relazionarsi con la natura. Probabilmente la prima ad essere sviluppata, la piu' ancestrale. Aggiunta in versioni successive della teoria, estrapolata dalle "Other Intelligences" perche' presente in tutti gli individui, ma piu' nascosta dall'evoluzione.

Da questo si vede come i Test QI siano assolutamente insufficienti, essendo che non coprono che una minima parte delle capacita' dell'intelletto umano.
E si vede anche come e' sbagliato assumere che i migliori Programmatori o architetti e' giusto che vadano a fare i Project Manager prima o poi.
chi ha dimostrato di aver ben sviluppato la parte logico-matematica non e' detto che abbia anche sviluppato le capacita' Interpersonali (e non e' comunque necessario Gardner per capirlo...)
