Scheda Madre ASUS P5GD1: non posso upgradare il DVD

Avevo già postato questo Mex nella sezione <<Periferiche di Memorizzazione - Discussioni generali>> , ma penso di aver sbagliato sezione :tapiro:
quindi mi sposto :ops:


Ho la necessità di upgradare il firmware del mio masterizzatore dvd.

Ho scaricato dal sito (LG) lo zip contenente l'upgrade e le istruzioni, che chiaramente raccomandano di seguirle alla lettera ... :mc:

Dette istruzioni dicono di collegare il masterizzatore (come master) al secondo canale IDE.

Ora il mio problema è questo: la mia MoBo è una P5GD1 (Asus) e non ha il secondo canale IDE.

Cosa posso fare ?

La P5GD1 ha un canale ide gestito dal chipset più altri due gestiti dal controller aggiuntivo.

Si esatto: ha due canali RAID. ITE ATA RAID (il controller è l'IT8212) .... e allora ? :confused:

E' lì che sono connessi i miei HD... neanche WindowsXP me li riconosceva come canali IDE quando lo istallai.... :doh: (dovetti smanettare non poco!!!), figuriamoci un'utility per upgradare un fw di DVD... :nonsifa:

Ma guarda, io ho la tua stessa scheda madre ed un Pioneer DVR-109 collegato alla seconda porta del controller ITE come master e le volte che ho aggiornato il firmware non ho avuto problemi.
Tu quindi hai letto solamente le istruzioni senza lanciare effettivamente l'aggiornamento?

GSA-H20L Version 1.01 Firmware Update

To update the firmware of the GSA-H20L please refer to the following instructions:

Note: Not following the subsequent update instructions explicitly will result in
permanent damage to your drive, for which LG will not be responsible.

This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below 1.00.
The drives must be original LG branded drives with the DVD Writer model number
GSA-H20L(no OEM units).

If you have an OEM unit, branded with another manufacturers name,
please contact that manufacturer for support and firmware updates.

This firmware update is for use only on PC¡¯s with Windows XP, Windows 2000,
Windows Millennium Edition (ME), or Windows 98.

¡Ø Critical Instructions: (to be followed carefully)

1. Connect the drive as ¡°master¡± by it self, on the secondary IDE controller
with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper
on the back of the drive to the¡°master¡±position.

2. Download the file GSA-H20L101(EW).ZIP to a folder of your choice.
This download includes this ¡°Read me(ew)¡± text file,
as well as the GSAH20L101.EXE program, which will auto-update your drive's firmware.

3. Close all other programs including: screen saver, antivirus and/or power-down programs.
(If these programs are not closed, they will try to engage the PC,
during the update process, thus interrupting the update and damaging the drive).

4. Check the drive to ensure that there is no disk in the tray before you start
the update procedure.

5. Go into the folder with the update file and double click the GSAH20L101.EXE program
and Firmware upgrade will be automatically started.
When the UPGRADE is complete the screen should indicate "ReBoot" message
and advise you to reboot the system. You will need to reboot your PC.

The update will be complete, after you reboot your system.

WARNING: Do not open any programs or start any system functions during the update,
as they will interfere with data transfer and damage the drive.
Do not cancel the operation once it has been started or the drive will
become permanently damaged, as a result.


Naturalmente no ho letto le istruzioni (sopra) e non mi sono azzardato a tentare senza la certezza di non distuggere il masterizzatore (come dicono le istruzioni)

comunque ho provato a connettere il mast alla seconda RAID (quella con gli aghi rivolti verso un lato (dato che sulla primary raid ho gli HD) ma nero infotool (ed anche la bios) me lo da posizionato sul terzo canale ITE, dopo gli HD.
