Decisamente favorevoli i pareri espressi dal redattore dell'articolo, inizialmente scettico sul marchio: sembra che il modello oggetto della prova sia davvero molto valido, a giudicare dalle conclusioni:

I went into this review not really knowing what to expect. In the past, the Mitsumi name was not the first I thought of when discussing CD-RW drives. The CR-4809TE has really changed my mind. The drive takes an impressive list of features and tacks on good all around performance. As a writer, the drive was consistently above average when compared to the 24x offerings from other companies. It also seemed pickier than some of the other drives I've tested when dealing with media, but as long as you stick to the brands recommended by Mitsumi, you should have no problems writing at 24x. When it comes to rewriting, this drive truly has no equals. The 12x rewriting speeds really blow away the current crop of 24/10/40 writers on the market.

As a reader, the drive was able to come very close to its rated speeds with all types of media, including CD-RW discs. The drive's DAE performance were pretty good in our benchmarks. It also faired pretty well in our scratched and dirty disc test. Even though the drive slowed down considerably to read the disc, it created a very low number of errors. On the down side, even with clean discs the drive had a tendency to slow down on some of the tracks. Hopefully future firmware updates will fix this problem.
