AMD ha reso disponibili da quest'oggi i nuovi driver Catalyst Omega, release che implementa varie novità e funzionalità e che vuole rappresentare un punto di svolta nello sviluppo software da parte dell'azienda americana. In questo articolo abbiamo dettagliato le varie novità che AMD ha integrato in questi driver: sono oltre 20 le nuove funzionalità implementate, accanto a varie migliorie prestazionali tanto con GPU discrete quanto con quelle integrate nelle APU.

Tutto questo si accompagna, come sempre accade al rilascio di nuovi driver, alla correzione di una serie di bug e a migliorie legate alla compatibilità con varie applicazioni. Le innovazioni introdotte sono dipendenti dal tipo di scheda video utilizzata e dalla potenza di calcolo messa a disposizione: quelle legate alla riproduzione video, ad esempio, possono in alcuni casi venir utilizzate solo con GPU desktop di fascia alta in quanto richiedono di gestire un elevata mole di calcoli.

I driver sono disponibili per il download, in versione a 32bit e a 64bit per sistemi operativi Windows 8.1 e Windows 7, a questo indirizzo. Di seguito sono riportate le principali note fornite a corredo.

  • [410255] A system restart or hang may be observed on sleep/resume while transcoding video with Media Espresso
  • [410398] A black screen may be experienced when attempting to enable Eyefinity after changing the display mode (Portrait, Landscape)
  • [410391] Primary display may not be retained after disabling Crossfire while in Eyefinity mode
  • [409705] Enabling or disabling Crossfire may lead to one side of the 4K MST display being shown as black
  • [410393] Minor stuttering may be seen in Dragon Age Inquisition on Single and Multi GPU configurations?
