VIA Releases VIA Apollo P4X266E Chipset
Enables Support for 533MHz FSB Intel(r) Pentium(r) 4 processors
Taipei, Taiwan, 22 May 2002 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced the new VIA Apollo P4X266E chipset featuring support for latest Intel(r) Pentium(r) 4 processors with a 533MHz Front Side Bus.

About the VIA Apollo P4X266E Chipset
The VIA Apollo P4X266E is an evolutionary design that improves on the current VIA Apollo P4X266A chipset, and sports the world's fastest DDR memory controller courtesy of Performance Driven Design. With a choice of 400MHz and 533MHz Front Side Bus settings, the VIA Apollo P4X266E supports a full range of Intel(r) Pentium(r) 4 processors up to and beyond 2.53GHz, as well as the new 478-pin Intel Celeron(r) processor.
As part of the VIA Modular Architecture Platform (V-MAP), the VIA Apollo P4X266E is fully compatible with existing mainboards based on the VIA Apollo P4X266 and P4X266A chipsets, ensuring seamless transitions to new higher performance product designs. The VIA Apollo P4X266E is also capable of interfacing with four unique pin-compatible South Bridges, including the new VIA VT8235 with integrated USB 2.0 support, as well as the VIA VT8233A with Ultra ATA/133 support. This allows mainboard manufacturers, System Integrators, and OEMs to target vastly different markets with a single unified motherboard design.
