VIA KT400A ufficialmente annunciato
VIA Technologies ha comunicato, con la seguente press-release ufficiale, il lancio del nuovo chipset VIA Apollo KT400A, caratterizzato dalla nuova tecnologia FastStream64 per il controller memoria, che, a detta di VIA, dovrebbe garantire performance superiori del 10% circa rispetto alla precedente versione KT400. Introdotti, inoltre, supporto nativo alla tecnologia Serial ATA e sistema audio a sei canali VIA Vinyl.

At the heart of the VIA Apollo KT400A is FastStream64™ Memory Controller technology which uses an expanded array of prefetch buffers to reduce latency in the memory controller, extending performance without the extra cost of the twin memory modules that are required by dual channel DDR chipsets. The VIA Apollo KT400A is over 10% faster than the previous generation VIA Apollo KT400 in 3D applications, and boasts an enhanced feature set including native Serial ATA support and onboard VIA Vinyl™ Audio six-channel surround sound.
