Ho kubuntu su un ssd più veloce, piallato a nuovo. Eppure windows 10 è più veloce nonostante non l' abbia mai formatatto. Per fare un paragone: in windows, chrome si avvia quasi in modo istantaneo, nonostante gli add- on presenti . In kubuntu devo aspettare per aprire un chromium o firefox

Windows 10 va in ibernazione (fast boot) per cui copia il contenuto della RAM sul disco (nel file C:\hiberfil.sys) e quando il pc si riavvia ricarica il contenuto del file di nuovo in RAM. Pertanto i programmi che hai già usato possono rimanere precaricati.
Immagino che invece nel caso di Kubuntu, il tuo sistema faccia uno shutdown "reale" e quindi uno start-up, in questo caso quando apri il browser il programma deve caricarsi da zero in memoria.
