Just watch your favorite movies and tv shows in English over and over...with English subtitles when possible...eventually (=alla fine, non eventualmente!) you'll become very good at understanding English and you'll learn a lot of new words!

Ps: you should have written "What do I have to do?", sometimes "have" is used in this way

Infatti:

Have you got a car? (=possedere)

Have you ever been to London? (= verbo ausiliario)

PERO':

Did you have fish for dinner?
What did you have for breakfast? (=mangiare)

What do I have to do? (= dovere)

Il miglior metodo per ampliare il lessico secondo me è vederlo "in azione" nei film e telefilm....o magari uno spettacolo comico su youtube...insomma tutto fa brodo... Su iTunes Store ci sono parecchi podcast gratuiti incentrati sul lessico... Per quanto riguarda i libri non so cosa consigliarti di gratis, vedi un po' che si trova in giro sui soliti posti...e scegliti un libro che ti piace, che ne so la saga di Dune...

no beh...non credo che "level" vada usato solo con il verbo essere...in quanto a seconda della frase è complemento diretto e transitivo...hence (quindi, di fatto), valido come attivo e passivo...sia in italiano che in inglese, o sbaglio?

Mi metti in difficoltà perchè non saprei darti la certezza assoluta, sono andato molto a orecchio, dovrei approfondire per dirti qualcosa di certo.

I totally agree but it's not easy to find a native speaker in Italy.
I was in a pub full of americans some days ago and it really frustrated me realizing I lost my ability to speak freely. When you forget some words in the middle of a phrase you lose confidence.

Yes, I'm abroad, and no, I'm not in japan. Concerning my avatar: I just casually found a picture that resambles me, and I'm using it since then.

I think the most difficult part of speaking is the pronunciation, especially for italian people: I met many people speaking fluently but spaghetti style. Terrible.
I think losing one or two words in a conversation is no big deal: after all you're not mother tongue, and I think that most of the people doesn't even use their own native language in such manner as we can see in a movie, or read in a book. Not in everyday conversation, anyway.
So, don't lose your confidence and just go on with the words you know. They might be few, but what matters is for them to be the proper ones.

Even harder is speaking a foreign language with somebody speaking a foreign language too: I work for a french man, and we speak english. You can imagine what kind of english we use to let each other understand...

first of all, let me correct your post:

I have a question (in questo caso è meglio non usare la forma contratta)

To answer your question:
You can't use this form because in english the verb "to know" has a meaning of "starting and not ending": once you know somebody, you can't "not know" him anymore, while "to meet" is an action defined in a short time.

If you said to somebody "it's nice to know you" it would mean that knowing this person has a value in your life.

Forse ti confondi col primo condizionale:

I'd like to say only one thing.. It's really rough the italian translation for first and second conditional..primo condizionale and secondo condizionale..

Cazz...hai ragione, è stato il lapsus di un attimo, non mi suonava, ma invece è corretto.

Ovvio che col presente uso il presente, per cui "If you say...it means...".

Avevo fatto un minestrone con la forma "If you did...it would have meant" che invece è "If you have done...it would have meant".
