Dopo tutto parliamo pur sempre di colui che ha creato il migliore engine per fps della storia.
La scalabilita' (intesa come adattabilita' alle varie configurazioni hardware) e' l'ultima cosa che mi preoccupa in doom3.

raga io ho il pc in sign che mi avete "aiutato" voi con i vostri consigli ad assemblare un mesetto fa. Colgo quindi l'occasione per ringraziarvi in quanto dopo aver finito call of duty (giocato ad ottimi livelli grafici) splinter cell (uguale con pochi filtri su) far cry (senza AA ma con aniso 16X e ris a 1600x1200) sto giocando a pandora tomorrow e tolto il solito aa che in splinter cell me lo scordo per il resto (complice anche il gameplay del gioco) vado benissimo, quindi grazie per avermi guidato verso un sistema equilibrato e con discreti margini di upgrade e overclock in futuro.
Finita questa noiosa premessa, parlando di DOOM3, al di là dei video che mostrano una grafica senz'altro di un'altra categoria (e come potrebbe essere altrimenti? sono anni che aspettiamo), c'è da dire che un gioco del genere va giocato per il piacere della paura che dovrà trasmettere, e questo succederà anche a 800x600.
Nelle (poche) interviste o commenti che ho potuto leggere dei progettisti/realizzatori/programmatori eccetera quello che ho sentito di più è che hanno incentrato i loro sforzi nell'esperienza di gioco.
Ecco: "esperienza di gioco". È un concetto sicuramente vasto, che parte dalla grafica (per la quale tanto sbrodoliamo ma al contempo tanto abbiamo paura per l'obsolescenza dei nostri sistemi) ma passando anche e soprattutto per mille altre sfumature come l'audio e le atmosfere di un gioco che lo renderanno magico.
Personalmente ho giocato a Doom e Doom2, era la cattiveria del gioco a renderlo unico, la motosega di doom ha fatto la storia!
Ora, per carità, le paure di avere un sistema che non vi faccia assaporare appieno doom3 sono sacrosante, ma i miei consigli sono:
1) come è stato già detto probabilmente sarà vero che serviranno macchine spaziali per giocarci al meglio, ma con macchine medie (la mia rientra perfettamente nella media) sarà un'esperienza altrettanto piacevole. Non dimentichiamoci che un gioco del genere genererà un giro di soldi immenso degli utenti per poter aggiornare la propria configurazione, quindi nella logica del marketing per chi deve aggiornare il proprio pc tanto vale far comprare l'ultimo uscito no?!?

2) come ho già detto SECONDO ME non sarà solo la grafica a renderlo un gran gioco: se trasmetterà quella tensione claustrofobica che promette, se l'audio sarà all'altezza e tutti gli elementi saranno al posto giusto nel momento giusto, la grafica vi interesserà nei primi 10 minuti, poi penserete seriamente a come arrivare alla fine del livello senza passare per 3 o 4 mezze tachicardie

Scusatemi se mi sono dilungato troppo, è che non scrivo mai nel forum (e faccio male) ma quando lo faccio forse esagero ( e faccio anche peggio). Cmq in sostanza il mio messaggio è: non preoccupatevi se non potete attivare l'AA a più di 4x o non potete andare a + di 1280x1024, quel che conta è che l'esperienza di gioco sia, come promesso, effettivamente DA PAUUUUUUURA

At that time we will take a look at a much wider array of CPUs, Video Cards, and Motherboards and what overall gaming experience they can deliver.

Looking at the cream of the crop in video cards, it is painfully obvious that ATI is going to have to make some changes in their product line to stay competitive, at least with DOOM 3 gamers. There is no way for a $500 X800XT-PE to compete with a $400 6800GT when the GT is simply going to outperform the more expensive card by a good margin. I am sure ATI is trying their best to figure out their next move and it will certainly be interesting to see if their driver teams pull a rabbit out of their hat or not.

All that considered, for those of you that are in the high end video card market, the GeForce 6800GT looks to very much be the sweet spot when it comes to playing DOOM 3 with all the eye candy turned on at high resolutions. Obviously the 6800 Ultra is even faster for those of you that need the best no matter the cost. If I had to make a list of high end video cards to purchase to play DOOM 3, the GeForce 6800Ultra and GeForce 6800GT would easily take the number 1 and number 2 spots with the ATI Radeon X800XT-PE rounding out the number 3 place.

For those of you that have not yet pre-purchased your copy of DOOM 3 because you thought your system would not be up to par and are not planning a system upgrade, you can now rest easy. I can now say with confidence, if you are playing any of the newer 3D games that have come out this year, the odds are that your system will provide a great DOOM 3 gaming experience in terms of IQ and video performance

Ma che strani driver per le ATI... ver. 8.05!?! L'ultimo set ufficiale di Catalyst ( Luglio) è l'8.03. Boh...
