Dipende da marca a marca.
Per esempio i bios della compaq (quelli che ho visto io) non ti fanno impostare niente, mentre altri ti fanno impostare qualcosa (comunque di solito hanno molte meno opzioni di quelle di una scheda madre di un fisso).
Penso che questo sia dovuto al fatto che il notebook lo compri già bello e pronto, e la possibilità di upgrade è molto limitata, e oltretutto meno opzioni ci sono, minore è la probabilità che un utente inesperto vada a fare dei macelli.

Be su un portatile con un centrino non avrebbe molto senso ad esempio il settaggio delle frequenze o le impostazioni di controllo energetico modificabili, a mio parere.

Il modo migliore se effettivamente è disponibile un BIOS completo, è quello di verificare nel sito della motherboard (non quello della marca del portatile).

Con CPU-Z andate su Motherboard e cercate con Google il modello esatto. Se avete fortuna, trovate il sito e il BIOS completo per il vostro portatile.

ATTENZIONE! Se sbagliate qualcosa, il portatile non partirà più!!!!!

PS: ho letto di gente che è riuscita in questo tipo di operazione e un bios più completo, a mio avviso è utilissimo.

Il portatile di mia sorella, ad esempio, ha il chipset Via KT400A con un Athlon XP M 2600+, con il bus impostato a 266Mhz, ma con RAM a 333 Mhz. Col bios normale non si può fare niente, ma con un bios giusto, capite anche voi che imposterei FSB a 333, in sincrono con le RAM, aumentando le prestazioni senza per forza overcloccare.

Beh, più dettagliato. Cioè, mai flashato un bios? Se salta la corrente, se il Bios non è quello esatto per il modello preciso, se avvengono strani avvenimenti imprevisti durante il flash, ecc ecc. l'apparecchio che stavi aggiornando puoi anche salutarlo (oppure devi trovare qualcuno bravo bravo che riesce a flasharlo a caldo (cosa non facile)).

Per esempio io ho rovinato un lettore DVD da tavolo (aggiornando il firmware da CD-RW invece che da CD-R come consigliato. Infatti quel CD-RW era di qualità scadente. A metà aggiornamento esce la scritta ERROR e da allora non è più funzionato).
Un altro caso è stato un masterizzatore DVD Samsung, dove probabilmente era errato il BIOS e, al termine, masterizzava, ma i DVD uscenti erano perfettamente ILLEGGIBILI.

Cioè, flashare i BIOS e i Firmware è un'operazione molto rischiosa. Bisogna essere sicuri al 100% di cosa si stia facendo.

Per questo ho detto di fare attenzione. Cioè, se per ipotesi trovi il BIOS nuovo per la tua motherboard, ma per qualche losco motivo poi non era quello esatto, potrebbe succedere che non riparta più (mentre in altri casi più fortunati, il programma che flasha avverte che i BIOS sono per hardware diverso).

Io ho unfujitsu-siemens amilo a7600, cpu-z mi dice che la mainboard è una ati raptor. Ho fatto una ricerca ma nn ho trovato niente.

Il bios è un PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 del 09/12/02. Ha senso aggiornarlo? Finora non ho mai avuto problemi. Inoltre alla luce delle vostre informazioni, mi sta passando la voglia (paura). La vostra opinione?

Intanto, suppongo tu abbia già guardato questa pagina. Il sito ufficiale Fujitsu Siemens. Ho trovato il tuo bios, scarica l'immagine CD e masterizzala. Occhio a non usare CDRW rovinati o di bassa qualità, perchè altrimenti ti si può bloccare a metà il flash (a me è capitato una volta con un lettore DVD da tavolo).
