This enclosure has been in almost constant use for over two years now. With the computer always on, and no active cooling, my Samsung drive reports summer temperatures of 37-39°C. Although a bit warmer than I'd like, these temperatures are still reasonable - a small price to pay for a truly inaudible drive.

The enclosure is absolutely silent with a 40gig Western Digital Scorpio. If I put my ear right up next to it, I can't hear a thing. If I actually mash it up against my ear, then I can hear something...but it's hard to tell because of the interference of the internal noise (put your hand up against your ear to hear this "internal noise").
