Here is a better and safer solution
I am using a WinXP-SP2, with MediaPlayer-10, and installed is a Microsoft Anti-Spyware BETA 1. Built-in Firewall is activated.
I want to listen to an AVI file from a tutorial, but the security system is blocking my download of the voxmsdec.CAB, because M$ product cannot understand that voxmsdec.cab is M$ also.
Here is what I did, internet security for IE and MP are the same.
Click TOOLS of IE , select INTERNET OPTIONS.
select SECURITY TAB,
click TRUSTED SITE, the green one, with a CHECK sign. this will then brighthen up, compared to the other sign.
click SITES... button
paste this URL --->
http://codecs.microsoft.com/codecs/i386/voxmsdec.CAB
click ADD button, chances are, it will block you, if the "REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION(https.." is check. UNCHECK this!
then click ADD button again, it should add the URL to the big text box title "WEB SITES:"
then put a check again on the "REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION(https..", for your own safety.
click OK
click OK
the next time you download the codec, it will ask for your authority or decision making, instead of completely BLOCKING it.
