non ha formattato nulla, i tuoi dati sono ancora tutti lì. La partizione non è danneggiata.
Si tratta di un bug del kernel 2.6 che colpisce Fedora Core2, SuSE 9.1 e Mandrake 10. Si può sistemare, non l'ho fatto di persona però.

Heres what you need to do:
* Download http://www.sysresccd.org/
* Burn it as a cd image
* Insert and reboot
* You should get its install screen, leave it for a second and it will jump to another screen with some jargon.
* It will ask you for your keyset, type 40 for uk, but it provides a list.
* Next it should ask you for your mouse type, enter it.
* Once thats all done, you should get a command prompt. Enter "run_qtparted".
* It will load for a minute, then go to a new screen, with your hard disk device(s) listed on the left. Click the one you want to work with.
* Your partitions will appear in the main pane, right click the windows partition and select resize.
* Resize it by a couple of meg and click ok, then go up to the top left of the screen and press "commit" (the floppy disk icon".
* It might take a while to resize the partition, but once its done, click ok, then quit. Take the cd out, reboot, and windows should work.
* If you want to reclaim the space, go back and resize your windows partition to how it was originally, or, allocate suse more space
