July 07, 2004 - While it may not be a copy of Half-Life 2 in your hot hands, this is fun news nonetheless: Valve announced today that beta testing for the much-anticipated Counter-Strike: Source will commence later this summer. Players at CyberCafes hosting Valve software will be the first to have a chance at the beta, followed by owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. The beta will be distributed over Valve's Steam distribution client.


In case you've been hiding under the PC gaming fan rock for the past year (and, frankly, it's an enticingly nice-sounding place to hide), Counter-Strike: Source is the classic Counter-Strike rebuilt with the advanced physics and visuals of Valve's Source engine, the muscle behind Half-Life 2. Could some of the sweetest multiplayer action ever built on the PC be made sweeter? Oh yes, sugar-baby, yes indeed.

A lucky number of you can look forward to your sucrose overdose in a few months. Stay tuned.
