"Biggest deal breaker for overclocking MW on air for you guys is temperature.
For highest possible air clocks, temps need to be as close to 50c as possible under load. In the upper 60's and beyond, the cards can start to lose clocks as well as throttle boost.
Also voltage will just hurt in most cases on air cooling. Don't give it more than 1.2v, most likely it's only causing instability/not helping.
ASIC is not exact, but its highly relevant because highest ASIC boards tend to overclock on air better than lower ASIC
You said yours is 72% right? 1506mhz is correct and within range for that ASIC level, I wouldn't expect too much more than that. Usually 71% ASIC and below can fail to break 1500mhz with stock voltage, below 69% and most will fail to hit 1500mhz even using default voltage. Above 74% is good chance to 1530, above 78% can hit 1550+ clocks.
Bests advice is to:
- Check the tim on the gpu and re-apply with high quality paste if bad.
- use a bios that unlocks MAX RPM fan speed as well as power limit.
- Keep volts low to start, below 1.18-1.19 load (measurement from read)
- Force p0 state by using Kboost
- add some memory voltage using classified voltage controller(only applies to samusng IC's)(use read points to monitor and adjust). "
