Visto che ormai i saldi di Steam sono agli sgoccioli i tempi sono maturi, ecco qui un altro buon motivo per consumare le postepay...
Poi essendoci thread su Steam, Gog e Origin non mi pare giuisto che manchi per questa piattaforma!

Developer driven
We don't make games ourselves, so we are entirely focused on helping game developers and publishers show off their wares. All tools and functionality provided by Desura to game developers, are provided to empower them to create a better game, and share its features in all their glory with the Desura community. Developers control the flow of news, images, videos and content through their profiles - we don't put up walls and barriers.
Community run
Every member of the Desura community can post comments, submit reviews and upload screenshots. We are not some mysterious editor in an ivory tower controlling content - it's anybody who can put pen to paper. Ourscreenshots aren't limited to some airbrushed press releases - they're taken by the gamers. Perhaps most importantly, opinions on gaming aren't just our own - they are the combined feelings and views of anybody who has taken a moment to make themselves heard.
User made content
There are plenty of great free mods and user made addons out there for games, which few know about and even fewer can install. Being able to customize your games is at the heart of everything Desura does, and we aim to make user made content as accessible as possible. From simple maps through to entire conversions and even whole new games, we hope to put what you want to play at your fingertips.

In pratica è, se vogliamo, l'ennesimo negozio virtuale con client (elativamente giovane, con meno funzionalità di Steam).
Le cose interessanti sono il fatto che sia orientato agli indie, anche quelli piccolini (non è che pubblicano tutto, però titoli ad esempio sviluppati da una persona credo che abbiano pià possibiltà di essere pubblicati qui) e un buon supporto ai mod. Ora non ho provato sta funzione ma credo che aggiorni automaticamente anche quelli.
Cmq certi titoli grossi ci sono.
Dal punto di vista dei DRM non mi pare siano molto favorevoli a questi, il sistema che paiono preferire è quello della key. Questa l'ho presa da wikipedia, però posso dire che per qualche gioco effettivamente mettono a disposizione un eseguibile scaricabile da solo e attivabile con la key. Mi sembra (da verificare) che certi exe siano standalone e altri richiedano lo stesso il client.
Cmq dipende anche da accordi con lo sviluppatore.
Di per sè il client tenta di essere il più multipiattaforma possibile, va su Win e Linux e stanno lavorando per il Mac.
Come prezzi a volte sono meglio di quelli della pagina dello sviluppatore, a volte no, occorre controllare, cmq ci sono i saldi, basta cliccare su games-->on sale.
La cosa che mi piace di più cmq è l'integrazione a moddb/indiedb. Io mi sono iscritto solo a Moddb e l'account vale per Desura. Moddb/Indiedb imho è una risorsa inestimabile, li vengono aperte pagine anche per progetti che non accetterà mai nessuno o che non hanno siti esterni a cui appoggiarsi. Oltre a fornire parimenti una quantità di download di demo e giochi free completi enorme con frequenti mirror su gamefront.
Per me eccellente risorsa.

PS: per me si possono segnalare/discutere anche vari bundle, quasi sempre ci sono giochi esclusivamente attivabili qui.

TITOLI INTERESSANTI
su desura (possibilmente in esclusiva o sul sito del dev)
- Anna: Avventura grafica Italiana dalle tinte horror.
- Conquest Of Elysium 3: piuttosto di nicchia e decisamente di qualità, tbs.
- Erie: titolo free horror ambientato dentro una centrale nucleare, non troppo dissimile da Amnesia. E' piaciuto al pubblicvo di moddb...
- Escape Goat: ha fatto il botto su XBMA, una sorta di puzzle/platform alla Solomon's Key.
- Frayed Knights: The Skull of S'makh-Daon: rpg a turni ironico che ha riscosso pareri eccellenti.
- Guy Vs The Wicked And Nefarious Land: gioco in visuale dall'alto vagamente alla Zelda 1 o The Binding Of Isaac, molto divertente e dallo stile ironico.
- Kenshi: progetto ambiziosissimo, è ancora in alpha ma una volta rilasciato l'obiettivo è quello di avere un mondo completamente percorribile e tutto procedurale legato all'IA.
- Project Zomboid: gioco di zombie open ended focalizzato sulla sopravvivenza, parecchio apprezzato dal pubblico per immersività e rigiocabilità.
- TRI: sorta di puzzle game in soggettiva un po' come Portal, bello.
- Unepic: un metroidvania divertentissimo e molto bello graficamente. Per un qualche motivo è stato rifiutato nel catalogo Steam ed è approdato su Desura.
- Wazhack: roguelike in tradizione NetHack ma con vista laterale stile platform. Veloce, profondo, immediato e soddisfacente con interfaccia e grafica eccellenti per il genere.
