AMD: Addio alla tecnologia SOI!

Thomas Seifert (CFO AMD) conferma l'abbandono alla tecnologia SOI per le future CPU e APU costruite a 28nm:
“On 28nm, all of our products will be bulk.
There are always trade-off decisions. But the flexibility that we gain moving in that direction... the flexibility across foundry partners, across design tools out-weigh that by far, the benefits of SOI."
Si chiude così un epoca iniziata con i primi K8 costruiti a 130nm SOI!
