Sembrerebbe un caso di
EDID mal scritto/trasmesso.
Nei casi peggiori non viene proprio trasmessa la risoluzione corretta.
A volte c'è da far i salti mortali per forzare quella giusta, tipo con schede NVidia o Win Vista/7 (così almeno ho letto).
Mi sembra di aver capito che hai schede AMD/ATI nel computer che ha problemi, dovresti poter disattivare l'utilizzo delle informazioni EDID nel Catalyst Control Center tra le proprietà del monitor, impostando manualmente massima risoluzione e massima frequenza di refresh.

If your monitor doesn't support EDID (which is rare) or you are certain it is incorrectly identifying your monitor's capabilities, untick the box and manually set the maximum resolution and refresh rate.
