credo di aver capito il mio problema..
ho usato (in live) bt3 su un notebook e funziona benissimo (ovviamente in live).
Quello che non avevo capito è che le guide per installarlo in "real" e soprattutto il bt installer è fatto per essere usato "sopra" la distro in live..è giusto?!?!
p.s. infatti ho riprovato nel netbook ma usando il codice:
xconf
sudo startx
