Riporto la risposta che mi è stata data nel forum dell'ASUS perchè può essere di aiuto per altre persone che hanno questo problema:

"The orange and white ports are not actually the E-SATA ports, they are the Drive Xpert ports. The single E-SATA port is on the back of the motherboard where you can use it to connect an External SATA drive.

The two Drive Xpert ports are not, according to Asus, intended for use as your system drives. It is possible to use them as the system drives but it takes some playing around and with the Intel ICH10R ports available it is probably not worth the trouble for you to try to use them for your XP install.

I would suggest you use two of the red ICH10R ports for your two Raptors, these ports can be set to RAID-0 in the BIOS and will also still recognize any SATA CD/DVD drives you might have. Other individual drives can also still be connected to the red ports they do not have to be part of an array.

Once you get XP installed you can install the driver software for the Marvell controller and the Drive Xpert software. This will allow you to use the orange/white ports to create an array for use as data storage. These ports are not hot swappable. The back panel E-SATA port is hot swappable."

Ringrazio ancora tantissimo terryw58 che mi ha aiutato.
