E' possibile se nel bios il controller sata è impostato in modalità "IDE"; i drivers sarebbero stati necessari se fosse stato impostato in modalità "AHCI". Forse potresti guadagnare qualcosina in AHCI, però non so quanto sia agevole questa modifica a sistema operativo già installato.
