Sciacallaggio?

Oggi ho ricevuto un'email che mi segnalava alcune novitā in casa QNX. Questa mi ha molto incuriosito:

Implementing Device Drivers - Migrating from Linux to a Microkernel OS

Recent SCO legal action highlights some of the risks and potential hidden
costs of using and deploying open-source products such as Linux. Developers
and technical managers are researching embedded RTOS alternatives to
understand how software projects implemented in Linux, might be transferred
to other RTOSs - what portion of the original software development can be
preserved, whether similar functionality can be implemented, and how migration can be achieved.

During this session, senior QNX(R) software developer Dave Donohoe will demonstrate how an existing Linux developed driver can be migrated to the QNX Neutrino(R) RTOS, preserving up to 80 percent of the original software code development. This will include an analysis of the steps involved in migrating a driver to QNX Neutrino, how much development effort is required, and how much of the existing code base can be leveraged. QNX chief architect Peter van der Veen will also provide an overview of how POSIX APIs enable application portability between Linux and other RTOSs, allowing Linux developers to retain their programming model and implement a hard realtime embedded operating system such as QNX Neutrino.
