....Aspettando il Retrospective test Novembre2007.

...dal forum di av-comparatives.org
Quote:
is finished and a preview has been sent today to the AV vendors.
The final report will be released as usual the 1st December (until that date, no hints etc. are given about the results).

What is different this time?
Main change is that this time only new samples appeared in August were used (3 weeks instead of 3 months).

Why the test is released now and not in August/September?
Because first the samples had to be collected and then analyzed by hand (for the tests of february and august we do not analyze all samples by hand). Also note that the retrospective test contains also a false alarm test which requires a lot of time due the big size of the set of clean files. After that, the results have to be checked and verified before they are released to public.

Why products from August were tested and not actual ones?
Because it is a retrospective test. If you want to know how actual products score, you must look at the "normal" tests of February and August. If you do not understand what a retrospective test is and how it works, please read the reports and FAQ's. Retrospective tests are a method to test the proactive detection rate of AV products.

Why product A got the award X and product B got the award Y when both have more or less the same percentages?
It may be due one of those reasons: 1. the product award got lowered/penalized due a relativly high amount of false alarms or 2. one product may have reached the higher award while the other one missed it for a bunch of files; as the awards levels are already quite generous, we have to draw a strict line without exception.
per me avira andrā ancora sotto con i falsi positivi, sotto questo punto di vista presumo che tra sei mesi le cose saranno cambiate radicalmente
