ma sti benedetti sandy bridge-e C2 arrivano o no? discutiamone!

Ciao ragazzi

"Overclocking has never been one of my issues with ASRock. Though I’ve seen better boards than the ASRocks on the LGA1155 side. On the X79s I’ve worked with so far, one being from Gigabyte, one from ASUS and now the ASRock, I’m amazed to say I like the ASRock the best. Though I got slightly better results on the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme, I had an easier time obtaining nearly the same result on this far less expensive board. Using automatic settings alone I was able to take the system to 4.2GHz. On LGA1155 boards I can typically go to 4.3GHz or 4.4GHz before jacking with voltage settings. So again I’m fairly impressed here given that Sandy Bridge-E seems to run just a bit too hot to match its quad core counterparts. Now as we’ve said before, getting to 4.4GHz is fairly easy to do on Sandy Bridge and Sandy Bridge-E.

If you were paying attention to the BIOS section I had mentioned ASRock’s auto overclocking settings. Using these I was actually able to setup the system to give me a 4.4GHz clock speed setting and it passed several hours of stability testing, though the CPU voltage was a bit higher than was actually needed. So I went back and lowered the voltage and was able to drop a few degrees off the temperatures and maintain that same overclock at only 1.36v. It took a LOT more voltage to do the same job on the Rampage IV Extreme. So hats off to ASRock on that. Now using ASRock’s overclocking settings, I was able to automatically reach 4.6GHz. I could get into Windows and do some basic things but under load the system would BSOD. Tried as I might I couldn’t’ get the system to last for more than a few minutes at 4.6GHz which disappointed me. I could do it on the Rampage IV Extreme so it is the better overclocker, but sadly it was much harder to reach the goal. And the extra work only netted me 100MHz which really isn’t much at all when you think about it.

Using manual settings I was able to reach 4.5GHz stable. This required adjusting the load-line calibration to level 5 and increasing the CPU voltage to 1.38v and CPU PLL voltage to 1.903. Normally the board runs at 1.875v or around there for CPU PLL. All the automated settings always set the load-line calibration to level 3. This worked to 4.4GHz but not 4.5GHz. It may be that with a different chip I could get more out of the ASRock.

All in all it was nice working with the ASRock from an overclocking standpoint and I had no major complaints. Again I wish I could have achieved better results but it just wasn’t going to happen. I have screen shots of two overclocks. The maximum "auto" value which was done just be raising the CPU multiplier and nothing else. The second set of shots was at 4.5GHz and was achieved manually by disabling the spread spectrum settings and increasing CPU PLL, CPU voltage and of course increasing the load-line calibration level to 5. Not a lot of work really and the results are OK for Sandy Bridge-E, but I’d still like to have seen more. "

idea stupida:
ahhahahahh

<<Intel Core i7-3960X e i7-3930K stepping C2 disponibili in Asia

jazzman | gen 31, 2012

il buon jazzman però non ha forse letto che su alcuni siti crucchi ne hanno già dati fuori;
