Sono già in vendita i processori AMD GEODE?

Chiedo agli esperti di questo forum, attualmente sono i processori x desktop con i minori consumi?

AMD ha presentato un nuovo processore denominato Geode NX 1500@6W.
Basato sul core AMD Athlon è dotata di 128 KB di cache L1 e 256 KB di cache L2, supporta il FSB a 266 MHz ed integra 3 pipeline di calcolo.
E' realizzato con processo produttivo a 0,13 µm e grazie al basso calore prodotto durante il funzionamento, è privo di ventola di raffreddamento.

SOURCES CLAIMED chip company AMD has several X86-based Geode products on the boil, codenamed Castle, Snowmass and Dragonfly.
AMD appears to be making a real effort to bring the Geode chips - originally developed by NatSemi courtesy of Cyrix, to fruition.

The Geode Castle, the sources said, will be built by TSMC on a .13µ (micron), support two DIMMs using DDR 400 memory, include an 128-bit random number generator, and clock up to 1GHz at less than one watt. Quite an achievement, if AMD pulls it off. The chip will support 66MHz PCI, and include 64K of L1 and 128K of L2 cache.

Snowmass could operate at between 0.9 volts and 1.3 volts, support proper operating systems rather than CE, and include a series of inbuilt functions on one chip with very low power consumption. It may even support PCI Express, USB 2.0, and include support for cameras as well.

The Dragonfly's plans seem more advanced. This 90 nanometre processor will clock at 1.3GHz at four watts, 1.1GHz at two watts, and 800MHz at 1.3 watts.

It will support SSE1, SSE2, MMX, the NX bit, and the much vaunted Microsoft Longhorn security. It will also have an integrated DDR-2 memory controller, supporting 533 and 666MHz speeds, four PCI Express controllers, and even boot from NAND.

AMD may well position some of these chips, when they come off the drawing board, against low cost and low powered processors from Intel belonging to the cut down Centrino family, it appears.

We have no information on time scales for these processors. µ

non chiedetemi dove perchè non mi ricordo...ma ho letto su un sito inglese che i Geode verranno distribuiti ai venditori finali a circa 60 dollari l'uno per ordini di 1000 unità...costano meno di un sempron...chissà se è attendibile...

era quello he sospettavo! be voi aspettate amd per avere una cpu cosi? io ho downvoltato e subcloccato un torob 1700 piu di due anni fa! lavoravo a 733mhz con 1,4v e i cunsumi premumo che fossero irrisori visto che usavo un dissipatore passivo!

è ovvio che potevo scendere anche a 500mhz ma stavo cercando il limite con dissi passivo!

p.s. 2 anni fa non ruscivo a scendere sotto ai 1,4v perche mi affidavo alla mobo per gestire il vcore ma oggi ho gli schemi per scendere fino ad 1,1v via soket!! se mi avanza un po di tenpo ve lo do io il processore low power!! :D

Parlando ieri con Monica Ribolzi, international account manager della Logic Product Development, i prezzi saranno intorno i 55/60 euro, i prezzi che si vedono su qualche sito o da qualche venditore hardware sono fuori luogo anche perchè non sono ancora disponibili i processori Geode in Europa, si dovrà attendere appunto fine agosto o più probabilmente settembre 2005.

Personalmente le credo anche perchè quei prezzi a 100 euro in su sono senza senso, non avrebbero mercato in assoluto.
