salve gente, mi chiedevo, ma la debian 64 è ancora in fase di sviluppo? esiste ancora solo la netinst e non c'è manco il flash?
possibile che ancora non possiamo installarla?

non è ancora ufficiale, ma è ufficiosa, si esiste il netinstall (http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/install-images/) e la si può installare inserendo i repository di adatti:

Sono disponibili solo le iso da 128Mb (netinstall)

Le versioni sono Sarge e Sid.

Esiste anche la sezione gcc3.4 che è considerata "experimental".
La sto utilizzando da un paio di settimane, e per ora non ci sono problemi.

Debian-pure64 is still classified "beta" by the porters, while debian-pure64-3.4 is classified "experimental".

The port is being worked at since the beginning of 2004, and many
people use it for both workstations and servers. Lacking a stable
distribution, the port is not recommended for "mission critical
production systems" until Sarge released.

There are 64bit related problems in approximately 200
packages, which result either in the package not building at all or
simply segfaulting on startup.

The latter problem should not show up too often, only in first
releases of new upstream versions of some packages wich had the
problem in the past. The vast majority of packages with known 64bit
problems do not build at all.

In short:
* For servers, it is roughly as stable as i386 Sarge and Sid are.
* For workstations, you still need a 32bit chroot for Openoffice.org, wine, MPlayer with win32 codecs or mozilla with flash plugin, to name the most common.
But nonetheless a growing number of people use these ports on their desktop system, and are really happy with it.
