Il sito russo Dirty.ru (http://dirty.ru/comments/18771) ha pubblicato un'intervista a PROF (GSC) nella quale sono svelati alcuni particolari piuttosto interessanti. Si parla della Demo, della data di pubblicazione spostata a causa di HL2, delle esigenze HW (pari a quelle di Doom3) ed altro ancora. Leggete:
* Of course, the first question was "SO, WHEN?! When will Stalker be released??. PROF answered that the game will be given to the publisher (THQ) in the beginning of March 2005. We added that THQ wants to prevent the force-major situations so the game will be available only in May 2005.
* We found out that even if the game will be ready in December, THQ won't publish it because of HL2 release. PROF added by the way that THQ is afraid of many things ;) He also said that the demo-version will be presented the month before game release date (like FarCry).
* Good news for those who don't have enough money for upgrade: if you can run and play DOOM3 on your PC, you'll be able to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
* All versions of the game (Russian,English,German) will be released at the same time.
* There'll be a lot of RPG-elements, such as a skill-system, questing, trading, armor and weapon upgrading, helping and asking help and a total stalker's game rating (!).
* PROF has a 2.1GHz CPU and a NV40 (256MB) videocard. He said "In STALKER it's a full graphics with high fps".
* GSC is trying to make a step towards the full game freedom. But they're afraid that gamer, who used to play a 'corridor'-styled games in past 10 years, can get lost :) The GSC guys like the game they're making: "The crosshairs are real. We're trying to realize everything could be realized!".
* PROF didn't answer questions about the accident that created the Zone in the game, so we'll have to find out what has happened by ourselves :)
* Multiplayer modes: DM, Team DM, 'a-la CS variant' and a team artifacts hunting (the most full variant with anomalies, radiation and so on).
* PROF: "If we even knew 2 years ago that the System Life Simulation will be so hard to program, we'd simplify it". Yeah, if the monster pursuits you in one location, it'll continue to do that in another.
* The phrase which made me afraid:
Q: How many CD/DVD discs will STALKER consist of?
A: A lot.
Sounds strange, yeah?..
* Slo-mo is done, but GSC don't know where to implement it. They're making a real world and they don't think that slo-mo is so necessary: too much things to be done yet.
* THQ says that it's great that GSC is going to make The Greatest World Game Ever Been :), but it's better to implement twenty full working features than fifteen buggy ones. GSC agrees with them and PROF adds that they could make another 2-3 games using this features.
* 'Dismemberment' (the situation when the body parts could be separated from each other with bloody mess) will be only in anomalies. If it are natural phenomena: everything is OK, but you can't cut a hand, for example, from another stalker. You know, there'll be an ability to eat and to cook food so there's a danger of cannibalism, and that's not good.
* PROF said that "game pirates are bad, but they're not a problem for the whole world game developers community".
* You know that last week there were president elections in Ukraine. The main opponents are mr. Yanukovitch and mr. Yuschenko. So, PROF said that he's going to make the worst, the ugliest monster using mr. Yanukovitch's portrait because Ukrainian people don't want him to be a president of their country.
* The world of STALKER is great, so it's advisable to discover it meter by meter. You'll be able to break glasses, leave footprints, roll barrels, kick chairs, open and close doors and boots of the cars. Oh, yeah: a fallen helicopter's propeller can be rolled to :). So the physics is great!
* The GSC is planning to make such language scheme: primary dialogs and other important info will be spoken on the user defined language with an accent. And the secondary language is Russian and Ukrainian for the other information.
* Cars can't be repaired: there are enough cars in the Zone to be used.
GSC also hasn't decided about game money.
* PROF said that they'll put a 'radioactive' screwnut in every gamebox! :).
* Some interesting info: nVidia is going to make some video/demo using the STALKER DX9 render mechanism.
So everything seems to be alright, developers are working hard to make the game we?d like to play. By the way, I asked PROF why not to release the STALKER in the 26th of April and he answered that it's a very good idea. And I'm sure THQ know about that ;)
