A beginners guide by Tjirp

Hello, This is a guide for all you newbies out there (not ment in a bad way).
I hope you find it very helpfull since I will cover most of the darkthrone possibilitys.

Here is a little index so you know what to expect and where to go if you're looking for specific information

Well here I go...

1. Intro

Darkthrone is a MMORPG, its a free game for all of us (so dont whine about ads).
The meaning of the game is to get Exp to get to the top place. Meanwhile you need to train or untrain Miners / Soldiers / Spies / more.
This costs gold blablabla. you get it, it's fun.

2. Race / Subclass

When you first sign up you are given the option to choose your race and subclass.
There are 4 different races and 4 different Subclasses.

Race Bonuses

Humans: Great Sword (350,000 gold/1,600 ATK)
Goblins: Light Crossbow (350,000 gold/1,600 DEF)
Undead: Recieve 1 citizen for every 10 killed, Berserkers (offense)
Elves: Spy Attack and Defense (+10% on Spy Defense and Spy Offense), Elite Archers (defense)

Sub-Class Bonuses

Cleric : +5% to defence
Fighter: +5% to offence
Assassin: +5% to income gold per turn
Thief: +5% spy def/off



Some subclass combination which have proved to work.

Goblin/Cleric, 15% bonus to DEF and light crossbows. This combination is your combination if you like to defend a lot.
Goblin/Assassin, 10% bonus to DEF, Light crossbows and 5% bonus to mining. These mostly just build up defence and try to get most money in the game by mining.

Human/Fighter, 15% bonus to ATT and Great swords, This combination is your combination if you like to attack a lot.

Elf/Thief, 15% bonus to spying, Be a james bond and specificly point out your enemies and make them crowl in your dust.
Elf/Fighter, Sounds odd but very usefull. The 5% fighter bonus makes you capable of winning more attacks with less soldiers (read why in the attack pages)

Undead/ALL, Fun to be undead and usefull. They get 1 citizen for each killed soldier in battle which reduces your casualties.

Not working combinations.

Human/Cleric, Being a human means you attack a lot, not defend.

Goblin Fighter, Being a goblin means you defend a lot, not attack.


Lvl proficiencys are very usefull. You get 1 proficiency for each lvl up (100 lvls so 99 pts because you dont gain 1 when you start).

These can be spend in:

Strength (Offense)
Constitution (Defense)
Wealth (Income) (mining)
Dexterity (Intelligence) (spies)
Charisma (Reduced Prices) (only in armory)

They each give 1% bonus for each point for that specific attribute.

(100% charisma wont work, its capped at probably 50%)

3. The attack system

Hmm, attacking always fun.

Attacking in Darkthrone requires attack turns. Each turn (30 minuts) you get 2 attack turns. Each attack takes 1 to 10 turns (your choice), 10 cost most but gets you most gold and exp)
You can attack someone by going to Battle --> Attack --> Choose a name with a lot of gold and at start preferably 0-10 army size. then choose 'Attack this player'.
you are givin a question:"How much turns would you like to use", If you are not sure whether you can win use only 1, or spy. else use 10.

To get soldiers you must train them, you can train them by going to 'Battle --> Training' There you can train 5 different men with different purposes. (miners, soldiers, guards, spies, sentries).
Also here it is where you upgrade your soldiers to Knights (Or berserkers if you are undead) and Guards into Archers (or elite archers if you are elves)
Each unequipt soldiers does 5 dmg, each knight does 60 dmg. (berserker 70).
Same is offcourse for defensive soldiers (guards).

To gain as much gold by attacking, Darkthrone has a system which is quite odd.

Made by DT admin, he explains how the current attack system works and how you gain as much money a possible on 1 attack.

4. Getting Gold

Gold you can 'Earn' by attacking (explained above). Or you can mine your gold. To do this train miners in the training section as you train soldiers.
Each miner brings in a certain amount of money each turn (30 minuts). this amount varies depending whether you are assasin (subclass) or have a lot of wealth (Profency).
Also you can earn more by upgrading your mine (upgrades explained in upgrade section).

5. Gaining lvls and Exp.

You gain lvls when you reach enough Exp.
Exp you gain by succesfully attacking.
to get as much exp you want you need to attack someone with 10 turns, win, and be very close to your opponents defense.

6. Recruiting

Everybody needs recruiting. 1 recruit means 250 gold and 1 citizen (most important).
To recruit you can either give your uniq link to friends and family (you link can be found on the members page (Main --> Members) or use Darkthrone recruiter (Community --> recruiter).
To start recruiting you can either recruit in your alliance(if you have one) or the public recruiter. To start recruiting in the publiv recruiter (most efficient) go to the recruiters page and click 'Start recruiting'.
Your stats are also on the recruiters page, just look down.

7. Spying

Spying can give you very usefull information about anothers defense / offense / miners / upgrades / sentries / spies etc. etc.
Most important is offcourse the defense, see his defense, go over his defense by training more soldiers, attack and get money. (your offense can be found on the members page)

In beta there should be coming some more options to spying such as Spy EXP and Spy missions.

8. Mercenaries / Upgrades / Armory / Housing / Bank

Mercenaries:
These you can buy on the mercenary page (battle --> mercenaries). These do require some upgrades and are more expansive. Most usefull about mercs. is that they increase population and give you more citizens (you can untrain them and train them whereever you like).

Upgrades:
Most upgrades can be done on the upgrade page (Structures --> Upgrades), here you can upgrade fortification (increases defense and housing), your mine (increase the amount of money mined each turn by each miner), Intelligence (increases spy and sentry rating), and offense (increases offense).
Most upgrades require a certain fortification level. (the defensive upgrade).

Also some upgrades for offense and defense can be done on another upgrade page (Battle --> Upgrades). Here you can buy Guard towers (defense, Can hold 5 archers giving each archer 1500 more defense) or Steeds (Offense, Each stead can carry 1 knight/Berserker and increase his ATT by 1500)

Armory:
Here you can buy weapons for your soldiers, they can be found on the armory page (Structures --> Armory). It contains both offensive and defensive weapons.
They cost a lot but do increase your offense and defense a lot. Buying archers/knights instead of armory costs you less for the same amount of ATT/DEF but that requires more citizens. (just start with a good amount of archers + knights, then buy armory weapons and guard towers/steeds)

Housing:
Housing affects the citizens you gain each 24 hours. for the beginning it costs to much (in my opinion) but eventually very usefull. (in the end you always need more citizens).
You can buy additional houses at the housing page (structures --> Housing)

Bank:
You can bank your money so its save and can not be stolen by anyone else unless you unbank it. You start with 3 deposits each day but that will increase when you upgrade your mining lvl.
you can deposit 80% of your total money each time you deposit.

9. Alliances
Alliances are certain groups of people who join together and have fun together. At the moment you cant do much with them, but soon there will be some alliance features like Alliance vs. Alliance attacking. (atleast I think that hehe)

10. Other (very usefull information)

When you get attack your fortifacation gets dmg. To repair your fortification go to Structeres --> repair.
If you dont repair on time and your fort. gets 0 hp attacks will kill miners.

There are rankings which can be found on the rankings page (Community --> Rankings). Here are the top DT players listed.

beh all'inizio se non si vuole soccombere si deve permanere parecchio ai bassi livelli se si vuole rafforzare la difesa, obbligatori sono i 350 click per il recruiter, ma volendo puoi aprire una dozzina di finestre ocntemporaneamente e con un quarto d'ora te la cavi, se poi usi dei programmi per cliccare automaticamente tipo mouse commander ti eviti la tendinite alla mano.

e comunque e' meglio avanzare lentamente consolidando le proprie fortificazioni e armare completamente con i pezzi piu' potenti di ogni tipologia i propri soldati.

alcuni investono tutto in attacco, non producono niente e parassitano sulle spalle degli altri, solo che cosi' facendo con difesa nulla potrebbero soccombere agli attacchi multipli coordinati dai membri di qualche alleanza a cu ha spillato denaro piu' del necessario.

per chi inizia: acquistare i cavalieri per avanzare fino al 3 livello e upgradare le strutture, cerca di creare un attacco in grado si sconfiggere le deboli difese dei pluri milionari che giacciono in coma al livello 1, attacca sempre gente piu' in basso di te con army size pari a quella del tuo attacco, se attacchi uno che ha come valore 25 di army size cerca di avere 25 cavalieri che in structures/armory, in attacco hanno 25 elementi per ogni accessorio massimo di attacco.

compra solo i pezzi che costano di + per ogni categoria!!!

se hai 25 soldati e' inutile comprare 26 spade, la 26esima non e' utilizzata da nessun soldato, cosi' come se compri 24 Steel Bracers + un Leather Bracers, un soldato rimane senza armi in quanto e' inutile comprare oggetti dello stesso type, si deve comprare una sola tipologia di oggetti per type e e' conveniente comprare quello che da + punti, se hai pochi soldi ti coviene comprare dal type di minor costo l'oggetto che da + punti, ad esempio se hai pochi soldi investi prima in Type IV - Boots /
Steel Boots che da + punti in attacco rispetto al Leather Boots .

come sta scritto + sopra, se ti diverti a giocare in attacco allora l'accoppiata migliore e' l'human fighter, se ti piace giocare in difesa allora devi optare per il goblin/cleric. Il gioco e' a turni, la grafica e' quella dei menu' e basta. Pero' dopo un po quando vedi crescere il personaggio diventa divertente.

ai veterani:

conviene spendere 2500000 monete per upgradare la miniera da stagno a rame?

50 monete al posto di 45 e 4 depositi al posto di 3.... che ne dite?

certo che conviene + soldi guadagni e + puoi permetterti un esercito potente e meno minatori.

comunque la vecchia alleanza ha cambiato nome in Tgmonline/Hwupgrade, in quanto principalmente composta da membri dei 2 forum.
