esiste un cluster Beowulf del quale è possibile sfruttare via Internet la potenza computazionale?

cmq prevedo che non ti sarà facile trovare chi ti regala un rack di macchine in cluster :D
non ne dubito, ma ho molta fiducia nella filosofia Open Source :) Se avessi avuto bisogno di un cluster IBM HACMP il discorso sarebbe stato diverso.... ;) Accessibile significa: "poterne sfruttare la potenza computazionale coi protocolli ed i software di collegamento remoto più diffusi sul mercato"

uhm da open source a free server ne passa :D, ma magari mi sbaglio.
il fatto e' che spesso puoi trovare qualcuno che ti "regala" un servizio (email, accesso a ogni tipo di database, ecc.ecc) ma e' difficile che qualcuno ti dica: "ecco ho messo insieme due macchine da xxxx dollari l'una, ho pagato un sistemista per configurarle, tieni la password di root e facci quello che vuoi, lecito o meno" ;)

ALLORA....Se fai parte di u gruppo di ricerca NO PROFIT puoi richiedere un grant in ore di calcolo al CINECA presentando domanda scritta su carta intestata. Naturalmente devi specificare chi siete, vostre credenziali, scopo etc..
Comunque ti consiglio di mandare una mail e di chiedere le modalita' nello specifico.
Noi non abbiamo mai beneficiato del grant in quanto abbiamo macchine a sufficenza. Inoltre l'unica volta che ho calcolato su cluster CINECA l'account era pagato!!

pero` se invece che nuovissimi opteron fossero dei vecchissimi pentium e K6, l'hardware costerebbe un micronesimo e non molto difficile da mettere insieme....

Specifico meglio...Per chiedere un GRANT al CINECA devi essere una ricercatrice/ore o un membro di un centro di ricerca accreditato. SE e' cosi':
