la mobo è una LuckyStart e qui c'è un bios (http://www.bios-drivers.com/drivers/87/87251.htm) da scaricare (devi registrarti) cmq cerca altri anche tu.
occhio alla versione del tuo modello, ho visto Ver. 1.0 - 2.0 - 3.0

EDIT: ho trovato questo... http://www.rom.by/bios/LS/ Il file lga3_03 è per rev 1.0 e 2.0 come scritto qua http://web.tiscali.it/acorp/mobo_spec/lucky-star/lucky-star-datab2.htm e dovrebbe supportare hd fino a 128GB.

non è fondamentale che il BIOS supporti i dischi da 40/80.

Ad esempio, se tu avessi un disco MAXTOR scarica dal sito della maxtor l'utility MAXBLAST, lancia il programma e crea il dischetto di avvio. Una volta avviato il computer da dischetto installa l'OVERLAY, che permette al computer di vedere dischi di dimensioni maggiori a quelle viste dal BIOS.

Non è proprio un operazione semplice, però è fattibile.
Ovviamente ogni marca di dischi dovrebbe avere la sua apposita utility, io ho installato dischi MAXTOR, SAMSUNG e IBM senza problemi.
A volte occorre fare anche altre impostazioni (che eventualmente ti posso successivamente spiegare), comunque questa procedura dovrebbe funzionare al 99%.

Ah dimenticavo, se devi installare il sistema operativo non impostare nel BIOS il BOOT da CD, altrimenti escluderebbe il caricamento dell'OVERLAY all'avvio del computer.
Devi impostare avvio da HARD-DISK e quando appare "l'OVERLAY" devi premere il tasto indicato per l'avvio da CD-ROM o da dischetto.

Dimenticavo......
Può anche capitare che il BIOS si blocchi durante il rilevamento del disco fisso, mi è capitato ieri montando un MAXTOR DIAMOND PLUS 9 in un computer con PIII su SLOT 1.
In questo caso, nel MAXTOR, occorre inserire un ponticello nella posizione "Cylinder Limitation position (CLJ)".
Il computer lo vedrà (impostando nel BIOS AUTO detect HD) soltanto da 32GB, ma seguendo la procedura descritta nel precedente POST il disco verrà riconosciuto interamente.

Se non basta:

If your system freezes due to a BIOS capacity barrier, perform the following:

1. Turn the system off.
2. Disconnect the hard drive and any other attached device from the ATA cable. Disconnect the power cable from these devices.
3. Install the spare jumper on the cylinder limitation (CLJ) position. A spare jumper is stored in the horizontal position on the jumper block for most Maxtor ATA drives. See the jumper image referenced above.
4. Reconnect the ATA and power cable to the hard drive. To make it easier to locate the source of the issue, do not re-connect any other device on the same ATA cable as the hard drive.
5. Restart the system.

If the BIOS was set to AUTO-DETECT and the drive is detected without hanging the system, continue formatting and partitioning the drive with the MaxBlast 3 software.

If the system still hangs after the installation of the capacity limitation jumper, try the user-definable option in the BIOS setup utility as follows:

1. Power the system off and disconnect the ATA and power cables from the hard drive (this step is necessary otherwise you will never get around the hang condition to gain access to the BIOS setup program).
2. Restart the system and enter the BIOS setup utility.
Set the BIOS parameters to a User Definable Type with 1024 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors.
3. Set LBA to normal or standard.
4. Ignore the Write Pre Comp (WpCom) and Landing Zone (LZ) settings; they can be set to zero.
5. Save the settings, exit setup, and power the system off.
6. Reconnect the power and ATA cables, and power the system on.

If the system no longer hang continue formatting and partitioning the drive with MaxBlast Plus 3.
