iBook & Clean-Install

Scusate il topic un op' stringato, ma visto che accendendo l'iBook, c'è preinstallato panther. dopo un po' ho notato che lo spazio utilizzato NON è POCO, forse mi sbaglio, ma ci sono un sacco di cose installate che magari uno non vorrebbe! Mi consigliate una fresh-install da DVD? io sarei di questa idea... e poi, installando RAM aggiuntiva, come faccio il test Hardware da DVD? Avvio con "C" e poi?

You can use the Apple Hardware Test application to help determine if there is a problem with one of your computer’s components, such as the memory or processor.

If your iBook G4 came with two Software Install and Restore DVDs, Apple Hardware Test is on the first Software Install and Restore DVD. If your iBook G4 came with a series of Software Install CDs and another series of Software Restore CDs, Apple Hardware Test is on a separate Apple Hardware Test CD.

To use Apple Hardware Test:

1 Disconnect all external devices from your computer except the keyboard and mouse. If you have an Ethnernet cable connected, disconnect it.

2 Start up your computer using Apple Hardware Test:
• If you have the Apple Hardware Test CD, insert it into your computer. Then restart your computer and hold down the C key as it starts up.
• If you have two iBook G4 Software Install and Restore DVDs, insert the first disc into your computer. Then restart your computer and hold down the Option key as it starts up. A list of available startup volumes appears. Click Apple Hardware Test and click the right arrow.

3 When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears, follow the onscreen instructions.

Quindi, metti il dvd (il primo), riavvia ed invece di tenere il tasto C, premi il tasto Option. Poi entrerai nell'ambiente del hardware test.

Tanti non vogliono il sistema come arriva installato dalla fabbrica (dove hanno un disco rigido e lo clonano nei veri hd da mettere dentro gli ibook), quindi fanno un fresh install dal dvd o cd che sia.

Non hai solo 3 fresh install come con winxp ;) ma infiniti... :)

In più così eviti di mettere il classic environment, vecchie versione di acrobat reader, driver di epson senza fine, fonts di cinese dialettale e così via... :D

metti il macosx dvd/cd1 e fai boot da lì (tieni il C durante l'avvio)...

Quindi me lo consigli? Credo che se domani avrò coraggio lo farò! su alcune APP mi sembra che il 233 che ho sulla scrivania sia più veloce!?!?!

PS: Risolto x l'HW Twst, c'è scritto sul DVD1 !!!

Non è che cambia la velocità della cpu, però fare un clean install serve per personalizzare il tuo os...

Altrimenti useresti quelle di fabbrica che arrivano da un hd clonato... Non è che si mettono ad installare macox con i dvd o i cd... Così potresti avere le cose a tua misura...

La questione defremmentazione è molto più complicata di quello che tutti ci vogliano fare credere... La diversa sensazione di velocità può derivare anche da un hd troppo fregmentato... ;)
