View Full Version : 9600xt e VIA. nuova soluzione.
Ciao ragazzi! sono due giorni (e due notti...) che faccio test su test... ora vi spiego: come sapete avevo problemi con la mia GeXcube 9600xt 128mb. Ogni gioco o applicazione 3d andavano in crash, xò fortunatamente ho risolto il problema (spero...) mettendo l'agp a 4x.
Ieri mattina sono andato da C.D. (dove l'ho acquistata) xè gentilmente un tecnico con me presente avrebbe cercato di capire e magari risolvere il problema.
Abbiamo provato 4 (quattro!) GeXcube 9600xt nuove e NESSUNA riusciva a caricare neanche WinXP. O si fermava con una schermata nera o arrivava al desktop ma con tutta l'immagine distorta e a 640*480 o il monitor si spegneva e diceva che la scheda mandava "una frequenza troppo bassa al monitor". GIURO! (n.b. ad ogni scheda provata relativo formattone con installazione di driver etc etc...)
L'unica 9600xt che funzionava (anche se a 4x) era ed è la mia... la soluzione può essere che la mia fa parte di uno stock diverso da quelle arrivate in questi giorni.
Allora abbiamo provato anche con delle 9200 e 9600 lisce per vedere se loro andavano a 8x......ovviamente loro vanno benissimo a 8x!
morale...siamo andati sul sito della Via e della GeXcube e tra le faq abbiamo trovato questa discussione:
I installed the card, and I thought I would try it with the shipped drivers. Installation went perfectly, restarted the computer, and tried running 3DMark 03… It started off well, I was impressed with the frame rate, then all of a sudden *POOF* the computer freezes. So I restart thinking it is a random freeze, so I start 3DMark 03 again, *POOF*, it freezes again?
Fix this problem by cranking up the AGP voltage and installing the latest catalysts. But it turns out the problem is the compatibility with the KT400a chipset, which is being worked on by the techs at ATI, and will be fixed in an upcoming driver release, and this can be fixed in the interim by changing the AGP speed from 8x down to 4x, or by setting the AGP voltage to 1.8v.
Ho trovato moltissime risposte (sul sito della VIA) che suggeriscono l'arcinoto abbassamento a 4x, ma mi incuriosisce il fatto di provare ad alzare il voltaggio a 1.8v.
Ora provo a scrivere ad ATI e chiedere se già nei 4.3 era prevista la soluzione al problema 9600xt / Via kt400 oppure se ci sarà nei prossimi Catalyst.
...morale...mi tengo la mia 9600xt aspettando fiducioso il fix da ATI...!

come cracco l'agp da 1,5volt a 1,6 volt? ne ho sentito parlare ma come si fà? :confused:
...allora...ho provato per ora a cambiare le opzioni nel bios e non è cambiato nulla...cioè...a 8x non va nessun gioco...vanno solo a 4x. cmq ho fatto un bel pò di test in questi giorni... per esempio con 3dmark03 (CAT4.4 tutto in default) ho ottenuto i punteggi migliori con questa configurazione:
bios settato secondo i consigli di ATI xò cambiando AGP fastwrite ON e AGP aperture size a 128mb.
Con AGP a 8x ho ottenuto: 3598, 3599, 3597, 3599.
Con AGP a 4x ho ottenuto: 3599, 3598, 3601, 3601.
...insomma punteggi identici con 8x e 4x. ...xò ad 8x i giochi vanno ancora in crash quindi ormai mi rassegno a pensare ad una cronica incomprensione tra la mia mobo con chipset VIA e la mia 9600xt.
Devo ancora controllare l'IRQ, lo faccio stasera xè ora non ho tempo!
Anche gli altri test (3dmark01, Acquamark3, Halo) mi hanno confermato che tra agp 8x e 4x non c'è nessuna differenza...anzi...!

ps x Red-Vox: il volt dell'agp non lo riesci a cambiare dal bios? io lo posso fare di lì. mi dà queste opzioni: 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 auto.

madò, io ho l'agp impostato a 4x perchè la mia motherboard non lo supporta kt266A... :( per l'irq ho controllato la scheda è sola.. )

Accendo il pc..carica winxp tutto perfetto...lavoro gioco ecc...poi che faccio? inserisco un minihub usb (un lettore di CF e schede di memoria ecc...) al momento che me lo riconosce zack..schermo nero...e tadan risoluzione a 320x qualcosa 8 bit di colore e asus doctor dice che nn trova la scheda come in effetti neanche winxp :eek:
Impressionante sta cosa...vado a vedere IRQ condiviso a volte mi mette la VGA sulla 15 e a volte sulla 11 quando la mette sulla 11 tutto tranquillo quando và sulla 15 è già occupata da un'altra periferica a sto punto...
COME SI FA' a obbligare la vga a stare sulla 11? :cry:

Ehi! sembra che i punteggi ottenuti a 4x siano in prevalenza superiori anche se di poco a quelli ad 8x come descritto da Belin in questa pagina. possibile?

...tra 4x e 8x non cambia proprio nulla, anzi...cmq i miei punteggi al 3dmark03 variavano di 1 o 2 punti, cioè nulla, non c'è differenza.
prova anche tu, vedrai che otterrai gli stessi identici fps sia con 8x che con 4x, con qualsiasi gioco.

...giusto per completezza d'informazione: ho risolto il mio problema (l'ho già scritto sul thread "9600xt community") mettendo il nuovo bios 1014 per la mia ASUS A7V8X.

Non metto in dubbio che non ci sia differenza tra 4x e 8x ci sono state molte discussioni su questo effettivamente, ma avevo notato con soddisfazione che a 4x si andava addiruttura un meglio!! Per quanto riguarda il bios può darsi che sia anche un mio problema, ho una 9800xt e a volte ma molto raramente il monitor andava in stand by o avevo blocchi all'avvìo, credo di aver risolto dopo vari aggiornamenti del bios, o almeno spero... poi ho reinstallato tutto con l'acpi disabilitato che spesso può creare fastidi!! Magari in futuro cercherò di aggiornare anche il bios della sk video, la mia è una hercules9800xt, ma non so se i bios generici ati vadano bene!! Qualche consiglio?
...il bios della 9800xt non lo toccare, è sempre un rischio farlo e rischi solo di peggiorare le cose.

Io possiedo un Sapphire Radeon 9600 xt 128 Mb ddr. La scheda madre monta chipset via kt266a. Non ho mai avuto nessun problema con la radeon. Per forza di cose la scheda va con AGP 4x perchè la scheda madre non ha l'8x.
La 9600 mi regge anche la AGP FAST WRITES abititate sia da bios sia da ATI SMARTGART.
Che sia fortunato io? Oppure è una ciofeca la GeXcube?
Girando la rete sembra che i problemi le abbiano solo le GeXcube...
